All your connections on Facebook, anything you’ve posted to Instagram or KZbin, it’s all the property of those mega-cap companies. That’s obviously a huge risk if you’re ever censored or outright kicked off a platform. Even if you’re not using it as part of a business, you’d still lose everything you ever posted and all your connections. You also give those platforms the right to make money off whatever you create and post…and might only earn a fraction of that revenue stream at best.

SKLZ has potential if it can execute.Has potential to see $20-25 a share by early to mid 2024. Maybe even a buyout target . I own NVDA and U. Not as excited about Block but I've been watching for a while. Plenty of money to be made on PayPal and Block if you stay Long. I like Googles dominance and have been a buyer recently. Everyone should own a little Google stock and it's going to be affordable to more lower capital investors after its 20/1 split. A must own! Bullish on STEM,MTTR,PLTR long term. Great job!

You may be correct but I don't see or I highly doubt Google Facebook Amazon or any of the other large platforms are going to stand by. I almost wonder with Amazon and Google splitting their stock if they're not gearing up for additional revenue to use for web 3.0. the information gathered from those sites and used is far too valuable to be privatized for individuals. I hope you're correct it would be a nice trend.

Unfortunately, I am doubtful that Web 3.0 will ever exist in a meaningful capacity. I am a Software Engineer, and while I certainly don't know everything there is to know about Web 3.0, I am not convinced that the future of the Web will be decentralized. I'm actually a big fan of P2P networking, but there are some types of services that just don't work well on it. Search Engines are a good example, which require indexing petabytes of website data on the internet. This is easy for Google to do, but if these indexes were on a blockchain, there's no way the average person would be able to store it. Only people with a ton of storage space would be able to host nodes. Let's say Google decides to join in and doesn't just have one or nodes on the network, but hundreds, making up over 50% of the network (AKA 51% Attack). Now Google has executive power over the network, and can dictate how the blockchain is to operate. Not exactly decentralized now, is it? Censorship (or lack thereof) is also a big problem. Blockchains are immutable, meaning that once data is written, it cannot be modified or deleted. While I think big tech companies nowadays censor a bit too much, being able to quickly remove sensitive or illegal content from your platform is critical. Unfortunately, you can't undo a transaction that has been committed to the blockchain. Now technically there is a way you can remove a transaction, but it isn't usually done in practice because it requires removing every transaction from the blockchain that was written after the one you want to remove, rolling back the blockchain to the state it was in before the sensitive data was written. Lastly, tech companies don't have a real incentive to create Web 3.0 services. Building a truly decentralized service requires companies to give up control in how their platforms operate. Why would Amazon hypothetically create a decentralized marketplace if it prevents them from dictating who can and can't use it? I also can't see anyone with substantially less capital than the largest tech companies being able to implement a decentralized equivalent of their platforms that could actually compete and take over market share. The tech industry changes extremely fast, but I don't see traditional means of hosting web services being completely thrown out the window for the sake of Web 3.0.

Liked your comment and perspective especially about when data is created. Although I think there could be a way to delete data in the Blockchain, it would require significant maintenance by a community. If the service is free or has minimal cost, the community may not be sufficiently motivated to consistently delete data that is bad, incorrect, or harmful. Imagine how hard it is for Facebook and Google to delete posts and drop links of content that is criminal. Policing that is a huge task, but is necessary or they would end up like MySpace, the poster child for wild west internet activity.

In my opinion, the legacy Web 2.0 companies will control a centralized version of Web 3.0 infrastructure and will be successful in doing so because they will be in a position to coordinate with ISPs to make it so that connections to decentralized platforms are throttled, thus essentially forcing users to use their platforms. The anti Net Neutrality legislation that has been passed recently doesn’t help this situation either

I think your conclusion is correct but for different reasons. The current big players will attempt to win this race through M&A as they always do. Some of them will be successful, some of them will not. Facebook will die a fiery death while Google and Amazon will only get bigger IMO

In my opinion, the companies that have been harvesting the big Data for decades can be thought of as commodity plays against declining currency values, with the commodity being data. And capital-D Data can be sold again and again, monetized in ways we have yet to discover, and data is a commodity largely immune to seasonal weather concerns that affect agriculture and the larger COMEX. Unlike extracted mineral commodities, data is largely unaffected by energy costs, and the global nature of modern data transfer makes the continued profitability likely in spite of regional geopolitical instability. Data plays can even be thought of as a hedge against supply chain issues. I expect MSFT, GOOG, FB, AAPL and the like will continue to leverage their hefty cache of digital commodity assets against periodic headwinds. The size of their market caps and inside track on the information economy should help them strategically position to maintain market dominance over decades.. Of course the downside is that we're all becoming "product". Moo-o-o-o...

From its high to May 12 2022 today, Coinbase down from $369 to $44, Skillz $26 to $1.5, Square $284 to $69, Unity $210 to $30, Netflx $701 to $166, Zoom $478 to $82, Roku $491 to $78, Shopify $1763 to $330. A lot of super bargain right now, alot of tech down 70~80%. overall Nasdaq down 30%. hope May 12 is the bottom.
