oh man! i forgot to do the entry on FB and instagram! :( anyway, as for the habits. Um, yes to all the above, though the clothes fondeling I have reigned in so as not to freak people out. But literally when I got my really good scissors, I letterally showed them to hubby and rather intensly explained all the rules regarding them. Now if he touches them I am like, wha what? what are you doing with my scissors! He just starts laughing! As to shopping, sewing has ruined me to shopping because I am never satisfied with the price per quality ratio since I know i can do better for less. And as for the knicker sewing? when i do dresses, i end up in my bra and panties! LMAO! Then mom pops in for a visit or the posteman shows up, and i have to run screaming for my bed room to find clothes. So definitly, deary, you are in good company!

Scissors: my scissors aren't cheap, Merchant and Mills, so only I use them. Thankfully my adult children never touch my sewing area and things so any misuse wouldn't happen. They're happy to wear anything I sew them but they don't interfere with my sewing things. Talking to my sewing machine: her name is Janie and we've been together for just over three years. We take very good care of each other. My successes are hers, without her I'd be naked. Touching people's clothes: mmm, yes that's all you 🤣 Cold hot drinks: yeah, blah 😵💫 I tend to stick to water. Water also works well with Haribo sweets Can't remember the fifth thing but that's not unusual. Very good video. I found you by chance but I like what I've seen so far. I don't care much for videos of people just talking, I don't get it (that's all me) but yours are good. I especially liked your SOI Coco jacket review. I'm sceptical of SOI after a not so nice encounter in the shop when it was in Clapham...... But your review is very helpful as I have got the 1960s coat pattern which I like the look of but am not sure if I want to make it. I'll be back and am subscribing too 👍🏼👌🏼

Wasn't about to admit to anyone, but YES sewing in bra and undies quite often as I make adjustments or get excited to try on and don't put clothes back on. I also sew in bare feet or socks if cold, even at my night sewing class. No one else strips off in class, only me but I am discreet but I get dressed straight after the try on. Can relate to all of your points

Pretty much me. Except perhaps fondling other peoples' clothes. However, I often ask them where they got their fabric and get an odd look ... it's an RTW dress or whatever. And as for coffee - I have got used to either having just half-cups or even drinking cold coffee. Can't waste time heating it up again!

I relate to allllll of these. Can’t do the undies bit (too many people live here) but just know if I lived on my own it would be the best and most logical option. My tea goes through so many stages of reheating, it’s probably not even Tea anymore, just water that was once boiled, (multiple times) is now freezing cold and a dash of tea colour… 😅 Good on you, this was fun.

Hahaha, I would say that I have done all of these things...... I try not to stroke people's clothes randomly in the street if I can help it ( which can be hard 😉), but definitely with family and friends 😁. Regarding the stripping off while sewing.....that's all fine, until the postman comes with your ordered fabric and forget that your starkers 😂. Thankfully that hasn't happened.......yet😉. I can't think of any other weird things at the moment but I'm sure there are some so I'll get back to you on that one😁😘

Yes! I always notice if stripes match up and when shopping for ready to wear I always almost look at the inside before the outside. I write PAPER with a sharpy on all paper scissors and everyone knows if it doesn't say PAPER don't even look at them. I can't pass a clearance bin of fabric without just looking and buying. I just bought 5 yards of a sheer stripe fabric with no idea of it's intention. At the very least I know I can line some bodices with it. Right? It was 50 cents a yard!!!!

I've not done much sewing of bottoms, aside from the odd pair of panties or leggings, but I do definitely end up sewing topless when I'm working on a shirt or dress! I'm not a clothing fondler, but I do ask strangers if I can take photos of their clothing if I see an outfit or garment I like. Or I'll go into a shop and pull things from the racks that I like, try them on and photograph them on myself in the fitting room. Forgetting drinks? YES! All the damn time...and sometimes I get so stuck into a project I can forget meals! I talk to my sewing machine too (I've even given them names), but I have a habit of talking to lots of different inanimate objects. I dropped my camera on the cobbles of Covent Garden once and proceeded to profusely apologized to it. That got me some stares, I can tell you.

I loved this video and the comments from others as well. First, I highly recommend buying a thermal cup. My son gave me one, and I no longer have to worry about cold tea as it keeps it hot for hours & hours. I now have to sew in the living room so I no longer can sew partially clothed, but I have definitely done that a bunch. Every member of my family knows that *all* my sewing scissors are off limits; I bought lots of the household kind so no one ever had the excuse that they couldn't find a pair. I don't touch other people's clothes unless its someone I know really well, but I have a bad habit of staring at others people's backs / backsides when I am standing in line, wondering things like how I would alter a pattern for that massively sloped shoulder or eliminate all those wrinkles under the thighs. What's really bad is when you find yourself thinking about making jeans and keep watching other people's backsides looking at pocket designs and placement. Thanks for bringing some humor into my life today; I really needed that!

LOL, great video. Yes, I sometimes start sewing before I get dressed for the day and LOL, even in my underwear. I do ask for permission to touch (Americans are very sensitive about touch and space) but I can stare while usually following up with a compliment to the person though. I don't go shopping for ready-mades, The quality for the prices I want to spend is too poor. For ready-mades I mostly shop at second hand stores where one can find quality at a reasonable price. The scissors issue is, across the sewing board, a highly coveted tool that no one else is to use. Yes I talk to my sewing machine; we're partners and she works hard for me. But then I talk to plants, my car, bike, cats, and computer. Everyone loves attention :-) What else I do is stare at people's clothing that I really like. It's as bad as giving someone the once over. I totally ignore them, the person, and do a scrutiny look over of how their garment is put together. I get more interested in fabric construction than the people. Another thing I do is In fabric shops I ask strangers/everyone what they're making. I am always curious and am not afraid of asking. Sometimes they are willing to tell me and other times they let me know that I'm invading their privacy. It doesn't stop me though, my curiosity is way stronger.
@kaybitner11313 жыл бұрын
I do the turn the garment inside out at the store to see its construction. More often times than not I do ar better because I want to be able to wear it for a good while. Also I cut out multiple thngs at once and just stack the fabrics up about 3 deep of various fabricsto alleviate the hassle of repining.

My fabric cutting equipment is protected from all comers. When I was married, I got my point across by threatening to dull his woodworking tools. I try hard to keep my hands off the cloths that people are wearing but the things on the rack will not fit and are not well made. Dressing rooms are so I can figure out how to make them my way.

Miss Ruthie: It's good not to be the only one, isn't it? My first sewing girlfriend and I would always grab the hem of any new garment the other one was wearing and lift it right up in front of God and everybody, only to have our respective hands slapped - in public, mind you. Being older but not much smarter now, I will accost anyone - male or female - wearing a tunic or shirt or skirt that I like and just lay it on them verbally, touching it as I speak (I do this most frequently when he or she is imprisoned in front of me in line in the grocer's - and yeah, they don't love it). As far as the sewing machine's behavior, when mine doesn't like what I'm sewing and balks, I threaten it by telling it I'm going to be forced to call Uncle Doug (my repair man who makes house calls). It seems that every time I call him about one of these problems, it mysteriously resolves as soon as Doug hits my front door. Tres embarrassante! The think the goofiest thing I've done while sewing is to not obey the call of nature when I was in the midst of a sewing mess. I now sit on towels to sew. Enough said. Love your vlog, Ruthie. Keep telling it like it is! Your fan Marlene in New Mexico, USA
