Wheres the ”ssd cannot be detected” part of the video? This is waste of time if youre searching what the title says… video doesnt answer that question!

I followed Part 2 instructions to the end but after I swapped the internal ssd with my new NVME ssd and restart MacBook it’s not recognizing the drive. I took drive out and use it in an enclosure attached to usb and boots and works fine. I have a 2014 MacBook Pro a1398 and using a Crucial NVME with an adapter.

Great vid helped a lot. I had a problem with late 2013 imac, cos I've upgraded to nvme in a adapter that was supported only under high sierra or higher. No need to disassemble the whole thing just made USB with mojave and the nvme was there.

I think i might be having the same issue you had, I'm trying to upgrade ssd with monteray installed but its not seeing the nvme inside the mac after I did all the steps. Do I need to downgrade to mojave to get it to work?

I have a problem with an iMac 2017, I already did everything and I can't find the solution, at first it detected the ssd with the adapter, I have a crucial 1 TB P3, I connect it to the motherboard and when I put the bootable usb with MacOs Ventura does not recognize it internally, if that same ssd I put it externally if the iMac recognizes it, I do the format externally and at the moment of putting it internally it it does not recognize it. I already installed the macOS Ventura by external means and I put it internally and it doesn't recognize it either, I don't know what to do I've been testing for a month and I have to be assembling and disassembling the iMac, I hope someone can help me, The disk utility does not recognize it, I already made the list disk and nothing does not appear the ssd m.2 nvme, I am totally blocked, do I need to do it with high sierra and then update to Ventura?

Hello there, If I were you, here is what I would do: Step-by-Step Guide Step 1: Find another USB drive and create a bootable macOS Ventura installer. Use the terminal command to create the installer if you haven't done this before. Apple Support has detailed instructions on how to create a bootable installer for macOS. Step 2: Connect the Crucial 1TB SSD to an external drive enclosure. Erase the SSD using Disk Utility, selecting "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as the format. Ensure that the GUID Partition Map is selected. Step 3: Install the SSD back into the iMac. Boot from the USB installer by holding down the Option key at startup and selecting the USB drive. Step 4: Use Disk Utility from the bootable installer. Erase the Crucial 1TB SSD again, this time selecting "APFS" as the format. Proceed with the macOS Ventura installation. Follow these exact steps and let me know if it works. Cheers!

@@LeoEverydayTech Thank you very much for the time and the response! I did the bootable usb of the macOS Ventura through windows 10 because I did not have access to the Mac, now that I can access the iMac I will download the macOS Ventura directly on the Mac and not windows, I will send you the comments when I try it! Another detail every time I start the macOS or the bootable usb with macOS Ventura, several codes appear to me as a terminal loading on the screen and then start the macOS, what should this be for!? Thank you again!

@@LeoEverydayTech Another comment, I tried in many ways, I have formatted the m.2 nvme in Apfs mode, Mac OS extended, and when doing it externally it recognizes it but when I connect it internally the terminal does not recognize it, do you think it is because of the macOS installer? Because the macOS Ventura I made of Windows if it allowed me to install the macOS Ventura externally, I even made the backup by Time Machine and everything very well, but when I connect it with the adapter internally, it does not detect the ssd, I have assembled and disassembled the iMac more than 20 times and it does not detect it, but the native ssd of Mac when I put it back if it detects it :(

I have the same problem. so apparently, the ssd was read using nvme enclosure. So now I have my OS on my NVME enclosure. I am currently in the process of creating a boot drive of catalina
@LeoEverydayTech4 жыл бұрын
My understanding is, your MacBook fails to detect NVMe most likely because its firmware needs an upgrade. Installing macOS to an external storage may fix the internal firmware issue.
@boibudgetmeal4 жыл бұрын
@@LeoEverydayTech Apparently, the firmware cant detect NVME (i am using a yosemite). So will it work when i create a bootable drive catalina/high sierra and install the OS on my enclosure? will it read it when i put the nvme on the flash storage slot once i have installed the catalina/high sierra on my enclosure?

Yes. I have done that many times. It is normal that the screen will be black for 2 minutes the first time you boot from the NVME SSD.

I followed your instructions fully and bought a USB3.1 enclosure for my Transcend JETDRIVE 850 NMVe x4 480GB SSD "FOR MAC". It's for the A1398 model MBP. I tried everything but it just won't be recognized AT ALL. I paid 299 for this SSD and more for the external enclosure, and i cannot make use of it it at all. WHAT am I doing wrong? Disk utility just does NOT see it. Please tell me.

I've done this procedure on a SBX Phison ps5013-e13T and a KIOXIA KBG40ZNS256G. With fresh install, and when on boot both shows me a "?" in a folder icon. I don't know what else to do.
@LeoEverydayTech4 жыл бұрын
I need more deal to figure out why. 1) boot from a USB drive 2) launch the macOS installer from USB and select nvme as the destination. 3) when the installation completes, the mac automatically reboots. At this point, it gives you a "?". Is that correct?
