Lifehack: mix equal parts water and alcohol and use a spray bottle to spray it on windshield to melt ice. No need to scratch it. Wipes off with a rag damp with the same mix. Boom. Easy! XD

There are windshield/ back window covers made for this. They work great. Take off the cover and the snow falls right off. That tool you are using is great for everything else like getting the snow off the hood, side windows, and top of car. I clean the hood and top of car before taking the windshield/ back window cover off.
