There was a guy in Poland around 35 years ago who did build his own plane and fly it successfully. The guy was a farmer with no engineering or flying background. He has visited the local flying club, spoke to mechanics, had a short flight as a passenger in the plane and then disappeared. 2 years later he was flying his own plane!

@@jayvonpryor1956 I would imagine he is referring to the title of the video "homebuilt aircraft without engineering knowledge" making a case that engineering is not required to build a successful airplane. However... as the examples in this video make clear, you might not need an engineering degree to build an airplane, but you should probably not be a complete idiot hahahaha!!! Those guys are dumber than a brick! Scrap metal cobbled together with WEE WOO lights on it and a spinny wooden stick on an engine that goes BRRRR does not make a successful aircraft LMAO!

@Mr. Anonymous I suspect that is partially true... however... the amount of videos I've seen where they all seem to have cell phones and laptops and books... leads me to believe while it may be difficult to acquire knowledge, it is not impossible and therefore I must conclude they are not interested in learning before they try building.

Disgusting to see how these guy’s are ridiculed, by 1st world citizens with easy access to education, supply and support. However - contrary to many of us - They do actually have the courage to dream, the determination to continue and no need to do 30 narcissistic KZbin videos with endless bla bla. The dream and actually pursue it is thousand fold more worth than sitting in front of a screen and making pathetic comments. It’s easy for anyone in the 1st world to order a set of plans for building a small aircraft. It’s even easier to order a kit and put it together. Yet when it comes to completing an aircraft probably less than 20% of projects started will actually see a first flight! For aircraft designed by the builder himself this may be less than 1% Then compare the determination shown by the guy’s in the video. My hat off to these guy’s, and yes I have been in Africa and successfully built 3 aircraft.
@maxkronader5225
@maxkronader5225 4 жыл бұрын
Wow. Without engineering? Most of those designs look like they were made by folks who've never even seen a diagram of any kind of aircraft. They're extraordinarily fortunate they couldn't get them into the air, as a flight would almost certainly have been fatal.

@Stesilaus Investment isn't the problem, it's the lack of education. I met indigenous professional airline mechanics in several African countries. They attended school and studied hard in order to become qualified mechanics. They don't build airplanes but they do maintain them. Africans can learn how to design and build airplanes, but tinkering in a back yard without ever going to school is not the way to do it. In the early decades of aviation Westerners had to experiment, there was nothing else to go by. But they studied all the available information first, and they paid for their own experiments. Governments didn't give out grants unless the entrepreneurs had proven themselves.
@bigglestheflyboy
@bigglestheflyboy 4 жыл бұрын
@@Rotuma1260 I must admit that in all the historical flying programs I've seen there is nothing quite so ridiculous as these aircraft. Honestly, even western schoolchildren would never seriously think these things would fly. I know education can improve people, but is there a real aircraft company in Africa that designs and builds viable aircraft that actually fly??
@Rotuma1260
@Rotuma1260 4 жыл бұрын
@@bigglestheflyboy Well the Republic of South Africa has come up with a few successful light airplane designs, by educated experienced individuals. But the rest of Africa has never been successful in that regard. And there isn't likely to be any such success for decades, partly because of systemic corruption. Indonesia is far less corrupt, yet their noble attempt to get the IPTN 250 into production was unsuccessful largely for that reason (corruption -- bureaucrats and company execs stealing money meant to go into development, tooling, etc.). Some Africans would undoubtedly be able to successfully assemble a kit if they could import one. But even attempting to construct one from plans (no kit) using supplies available locally, would undoubtedly fail. If they can't obtain aircraft-quality aluminum at the right gauge, they'd probably substitute iron sheet or something else way too heavy. "Positive thinking" isn't all it takes.

It's not really fair to list these as the worst aircraft because (how can I put this kindly?) none of them ever had a chance of getting airborne. That's not to belittle the drive and dedication of the builders, they are just dealing with some very complex principles that require far better materials and facilities than they have. Rather than mock them they should be applauded. If I could I would lead them through the build of a basic kitplane, just to give them the satisfaction of achieving their goal. Mind you, they'd probably crash it as soon as my back was turned.

FFS, here we see the Dunning-Kruger Syndrome exemplified, up close and personal in glorious technicolor! Gotta admire the perseverance of the guy who blames the "aerodynamics" after the aircraft broke up and collapsed before it even got moving! Other than the obvious but totally ignored fact that the thing is structurally a catastrophe, I think his diagnosis is correct however - how fortunate that it never got off the ground. There really are no words.....

Oscar, as you may have anticipated, many of the viewer comments will suppose that this post is racist. If they just check your channel out, it is a legitimate and well crafted series of videos which are very good and informational. As most of us know, the Internet is full of videos which are known as "fails". These are usually where people attempt something risky, and the results are sometimes comical and thus entertaining. These also were quite humorous, but also showed the dedication and perseverance of well-meaning attempts to accomplish a dream, from the very beginning steps - with a long, long way to go. Good work! I'm subscribed. 😊

The sad thing is, even when they can achieve flight they still have to get a pilots license as the plane they made seems to be heavy. If you look at one of those planes the engineers told the reporter that the plane weight 800 kg. Well they should made an ultralight that should weight about 158 kg because if you use an ultralight you don't need a license to fly one. Though, you still need some basic training to fly one

It is obvious the aircraft are made out of materials that are too weak. They should use cinderblocks and concrete. Tires from a 18 wheeled semi could be used to hold the weight, and the engines are too small, they should try a Briggs and Stratton next time.
