There was a guy in Poland around 35 years ago who did build his own plane and fly it successfully. The guy was a farmer with no engineering or flying background. Disgusting to see how these guy’s are ridiculed, by 1st world citizens with easy access to education, supply and support. However - contrary to many of us - They do actually have the courage to dream, the determination to continue and no need to do 30 narcissistic KZbin videos with endless bla bla. The dream and actually pursue it is thousand fold more worth than sitting in front of a screen and making pathetic comments. It’s easy for anyone in the 1st world to order a set of plans for building a small aircraft. It’s even easier to order a kit and put it together. Yet when it comes to completing an aircraft probably less than 20% of projects started will actually see a first flight! For aircraft designed by the builder himself this may be less than 1% Then compare the determination shown by the guy’s in the video. My hat off to these guy’s, and yes I have been in Africa and successfully built 3 aircraft.

@Stesilaus Investment isn't the problem, it's the lack of education. I met indigenous professional airline mechanics in several African countries. They attended school and studied hard in order to become qualified mechanics. They don't build airplanes but they do maintain them. Africans can learn how to design and build airplanes, but tinkering in a back yard without ever going to school is not the way to do it. In the early decades of aviation Westerners had to experiment, there was nothing else to go by. But they studied all the available information first, and they paid for their own experiments. Governments didn't give out grants unless the entrepreneurs had proven themselves.
@bigglestheflyboy4 жыл бұрын
@@Rotuma1260 I must admit that in all the historical flying programs I've seen there is nothing quite so ridiculous as these aircraft. Honestly, even western schoolchildren would never seriously think these things would fly. I know education can improve people, but is there a real aircraft company in Africa that designs and builds viable aircraft that actually fly??
@Rotuma12604 жыл бұрын
@@bigglestheflyboy Well the Republic of South Africa has come up with a few successful light airplane designs, by educated experienced individuals. But the rest of Africa has never been successful in that regard. And there isn't likely to be any such success for decades, partly because of systemic corruption. Indonesia is far less corrupt, yet their noble attempt to get the IPTN 250 into production was unsuccessful largely for that reason (corruption -- bureaucrats and company execs stealing money meant to go into development, tooling, etc.). Some Africans would undoubtedly be able to successfully assemble a kit if they could import one. But even attempting to construct one from plans (no kit) using supplies available locally, would undoubtedly fail. If they can't obtain aircraft-quality aluminum at the right gauge, they'd probably substitute iron sheet or something else way too heavy. "Positive thinking" isn't all it takes.
