The "Electric Blue Superman" costume is actually one of my favourite superhero outfits. I'll forever associate this look with Grant Morrison's marvellous JLA run.

The only armor that I ever saw Superman where that made sense was a radiation suit Star Labs made him in case he had to deal with a villain packing kryptonite- like Lex or Metallo.

I thought the New 52 Superman had a great design, by one of the greatest comic artists of all time, Jim Lee. I definitely wouldn't classify it as armor-like, but the segmented look gives his suit a sleeker and less goofy, underwear-esque appearance. Also, the point of Flashpoint Superman was to look horrendous. That's the point of the whole thing actually.

The New 52 costume looks great. The fact that it's labelled armour so it canonically doesn't get ripped all the time is the same thing as "kryptonian fabric doesn't rip" from the original comics

Bruh, electric blue Superman's costume is pretty neat. It looks classic and futuristic at the same time, it's just neat man. Also, when you say armour, does that include Superman's new 52 suit? I can understand if you don't like it, but do you really dislike it so much to put it on the list?

Yeah, he had a sort of radiation-proof suit in the Animated Series. Wasn't pretty, but it was functional.

I like the electric costume, just not on Superman. As for armor, unless it's a spacesuit or anti-Kryptonite or his powers were (temporarily I would think) taken from him he shouldn't wear armor. His costume is made from Kryptonian fibers.

I actually don’t agree with your argument about why Superman doesn’t need an armor. Superman wearing an armor actually makes more sense for him that wearing any kind of fabric. Superman can take beats from the most powerful beings in the DC universe which is probably why people think an armor is unnecessary but an armor could easily take a blast from Darkseid without deteriorating by the energy blast and becoming into a distraction like: losing your costume after a solar flair. We have always complained about how superheroes usually damage their costumes in battles even with the smallest attack and an armor can prove more practical than regular fabric for a character like Superman.

I know I'm fairly late. But I kind of liked the one in Smallville. If Clark had put on the suit earlier, they wouldn't need any more episodes. The entire point of the show was to see Clark becoming Superman, not just full blown Superman. Still wish we had seen Tom in the suit though.

if you have not been reading the dark knight returns 3. in the most resent issue superman is wearing armor to protect ageist the synthetic green Kryptonite. in Smallville case. look up Smallville season 11 comic.

There is something about that phase when DC & Marvel gave unnecessary additions to their strongest heroes. I can't help but look back at the pouches look and/or the time where both Hulk and Superman were given guns, without a facepalm.

I thought that DC / WB put the kaibosh on Tom Welling being in the Superman suit in Smallville because Man of Steel was coming out soon and they didn't want to muddy the waters and confuse people?? I don't agree with that decision, or feels that it makes sense, but that's what I heard from people who worked on it

+ComicsAlliance Did the story behind costume #5 spell out that Superman had a cybernetic arm? Because all it looks like in the art is that he's wearing a galerus and manica, two pieces of Roman armor made famous by retiarius gladiators (the net guys). Which seems to fit the setting since the New Gods tended to crib so much from the ancient world. Also, is it really a mullet? It isn't so much "short" in the front as it just isn't as long. I mean Supes even still has his little "s curl" of hair up front. XD Not saying this is a good look, just that if we are going to make fun of it, let's avoid making silly mistakes. ;)

Several people involved with the Superman books at the time have said that it wasn't intended to be a mullet, that's just how some of the artists drew it, but since "Super-Mullet" is the name the look has been affectionately dubbed (plus the fact that these videos are intended mostly to entertain and not be scholarly works beyond fact checking reproach), I thought it'd be easier to just go with it. Also, no the armor he's given on his arm is not actually indicated to be robotic in nature anywhere in the story, I was more calling it that for short and since the robotic arm look became so popular as to become cliche in the 90s. Really, the 90s Hunter Prey Superman with the cod piece that looks like a dick is at 5 and the Flashpoint Superman, which made sense for the storyline is at 1? The Jim Lee armor makes sense when you figure he flies and runs at really high speeds. Wouldn't wanna fight crime naked. What a crappy list.
