A good tip, even if it's not really scam: if you're too drunk, cabs won't take you. Or they take a big surcharge, 50 or 100 euros, to cover any cleaning costs if you throw up. 😅

So if a cab driver really rips you off like that, I would make a note of the cab number and, if possible, the license plate number. Then you can report him to the police and he will definitely lose his license and never drive a cab again! And if you don't know where to turn: a) ask other cab drivers who are honest, or b) go directly to the police or c) to the public order office (Ordnungsamt)! I would also never get into a cab where you are approached directly by the cab driver! My brother was a cab driver for years and had his own cab company. They don't want such rip-offs around!

Great advice, thanks! It’s so unfortunate that this small percentage of dishonest taxi drivers make everyone look bad. Most taxi drivers treat their customers very well :)

I do not see any scams when I compare this to other tourist scam videos, looks all a bit made up to me. Taximeters off and sub ticket sales is a global thing. :)

Ver true, Germany is luckily very safe and has very low rates of violent crimes, etc. But, tourists are still being scammed so we're doing our best to educate so everyone can be aware :)
