I’m a solid believer that successful are those who start their day insanely early. As you stated it’s important to use those early hours being productive. I’ve been rising at 4:30 each and every day for thirty years and using that time wisely. I do more before I have to show up at my job than most people do before noon. I’m a much more productive person because of this routine. I’m nearing retirement but I don’t see my routine changing just because I’m not going in to the office. Not at all.

Hi Bill, thank you so much for sharing your view! I can only second what you said and love the fact that you have been holding up your routine for such a long time - certainly an inspiration. Thanks and all the best, Lea

Actually doing it is the key. “Practice “ is the key word

What I like most about getting up at 5 is just how calm and peaceful it is. There's only a few other people out and about but everything is still so quiet and relazing. It's really nice during the summer but it gets harder when it's -30C and dark... Anyways, gonna try to wake up at 5 again!

Hi Keena, thanks for sharing! I fully agree, it's a lot easier during summer compared to winter even though it's similalry quite and pieceful then ;) Keep it up and all the best, Lea

Great video! I really liked your point about ppl usually just watching TV/Netflix/KZbin etc and not being productive in the evening anyways, whenever I have been waking up at 5 or 6 and going to bed earlier I've noticed I don't spend as much time just mindlessly watching some nonsense and then being anxious and overthinking about everything and then having trouble sleeping. So I guess going to bed earlier erases the whole anxious cycle altogether simply because I wont be awake for it :D!

Hi Veera, thanks for the feedbck and your thoughts. Indeed, that's also what I experience and truly believe it. Not watching TV etc. in the evening and maybe rather going to bed after dinner or reading a book also reduces the amount of blue light you absorb in the evening and therefore, makes you fall asleep and sleep better. Hope I could motivate you to wake up at 5 or 6 again ;) All the best, Lea

Потрясающее видео. Спасибо вам за советы. Я сам стараюсь просыпаться в 5 утра. Мне нравится то, что встаешь на рассвете.

Most important is to keep your Circadian Rhythm in sync. The 5 AM ritual isn't that challenging if you are single and are not a slave to swing shift or graveyard shift work. Add a family to the mix, and you're going to discover it's impracticable. - You can't really force your spouse or kids to follow the same ritual - You can surely go to sleep on your own, but then * Your family will not be able to stay quiet, which will be disruptive to your deep cycle sleep (which happens at it's deepest early in the sleep cycle) * You really should eat at least 3 hours before going to bed or (over time) you'll end up with a weakened upper esophageal sphincter which leads to Acid Reflux. Do you think the rest of the family will be eating 4 to 5 hours before they go to bed? Will you even eat as a family? * You are disrupting your spouse when you get up early and they are not - Your Social life generally starts AFTER work. You're "TV Time" or "Party Time" with family and/or friends is a purpose to live. If you're just living to work, what kind of life is that? It may take you an hour to calm down enough to fall asleep. So, you're now committing to leaving a dinner or gathering at 7:30 to commute back home, in the door at 8 PM, and hopefully changed and calm by 9 PM. Never mind getting any kids to bed. LOL. Wait? 7:30? Isn't that just about the time everyone gets there? Yep, you're screwed. Look, I love the peace and quiet a 5 AM start time opens up. I'm super productive in the morning. In my house, that may allow for 4 hours of productivity before I see another living soul. BUT, after doing it for decades, it's grueling. It's not a pleasure. It means you can't sleep longer. And, so, you live semi separately. I don't wish it on anyone.

Hi there, thanks for sharing! Fully agree that keeping your circadian rhythm in sync is crucial, which might mean something totally different for each and everyone of us. Also, this is just one example, which might work for you or not or which might inspire you or not. All the best, Lea

Hello :) I totally agree with you. Even if I am single, I already got in trouble with such a similar routine (which in my case was actually not a real routine but just because I decided to go to work earlier instead of staying with insomnia because of stress in my bed). The main problem by far for me was that, arriving at the office at 7 am (after 45 minutes of journey in metros and trains), nobody was accepting that I could leave before 6 pm and I most of the time left after 6:30pm, which lead to, after the journey back (slower because a lot more crowded) basically have almost no evening at all. There are unfortunately some countries and/or cities where people use to come at work reaaaally late and where you have to show that you stay late in the evening. Myself, and two other colleagues in my team, we could be very efficient from 7 to 9:30 am, moment when the others started to arrive and made noise in the open space. You are right about difficulties with socialising. And noise from neighbours until very late that was reducing my night to sometimes 4 hours only. Summers were really hard for that reason. The feeling of walking almost alone in the streets and public transportation was very nice but evenings were not easy. Cheers ! :)

I totally agree with you! Although, I do believe that keep this rhythm/schedule 7 days a week is crucial, I do think that you can adjust it to your very own needs. For instance, I am single mom with 3 children; my children go to bed at 7:30 pm & completely at sleep by 8 pm. Of course that changed for the oldest ones as they got older, but the same schedule remain for everyone meaning that lights go out at 8 pm. The oldest ones that go to bed at 9 can stay awake, they can read, take a shower (we live in a two bedroom apartment), draw, or just meditate to slowly(or not too slowly) transition from being awake to feel tired & sleep. We all usually have dinner at 6pm & they feel full to the next morning.Now, the schedule for Fridays & Saturday is different! as you said, socializing is also a priority for everyone, let alone a kid. For me, I allow myself to sleep two more hours twice per week & I feel fantastic since I wake up every two hrs., usually & even when I go to bed at 10 pm I barely get 5 hrs., of sleep & if so they get interrupted at least every two hrs. When I wake up at 5 am, they are sleeping & I get a quiet home!! That's my biggest motivation since I don't get that very often, or never. Now, all of this schedule was created since I had my first born over 18 years ago so it was very easy for me to actually jump into the 5 am club. Trying to start to follow this schedule a while ago would have not work at all!! I guess my whole point is that it is possible & you are defiantly allow to make changes to adjust it to your very own needs & goals. Also, I listen to my body. If one morning I just can't get up I stay in bed for another hour. Again, I totally agree with you that following that 5 am routine strictly will be too much when you have a family, but adjustments can be made.

it's 2:27am, i get a lot done during these hours due to IT work. However, it destroys my mornings, I might have to take a call, or someone goes down, or this that and the other, so I go to bed at 4am and am up at 7 or 8 or 9 or in between cat-nap or no cat-nap but yea, this rips my heart and soul right out of my body. I am so stressed all the time, I'm worn down all the time, I feel very depressed all the time ALL of this from this monotonous schedule, if you can call it that. h-e-l-p

@@LeaDavid -- Thanks Lea, Yea, I'm working on getting up at 5:45, and then I try to get up 15 min. earlier each week until it's 5:00am ;--) thanks for the help, It's 3:44am right now but tomorrow (today) is Saturday so it's a bit different. I'll try to go to bed at Midnight , then try 11:00pm using the 15 min. per week algorithm of subtraction to see if that plays well. Thanks so much for even putting this 5AM thing out here for us to see, you're the best!!

Well before this routine how much hours did you sleep ? I think that it’s difficult for me to only sleep 8 hours 😢
@LeaDavid
@LeaDavid Жыл бұрын
Hi, the number of hours of sleep I get every day did not change before and after this routine. I think it is very subjective how much sleep you need, so if you need more, just adjust your bed time or wake up time accordingly. All the best, Lea
