FINALLY!!! Someone mentions emotional attachment! That’s what’s missing in almost all the decluttering methodology that’s on KZbin. Finally someone gets the emotional and physical trauma of trying to part with something/anything. I’ve been watching decluttering videos for years. I’m shouting a huge “hallelujah” to hear you speak about the emotional attachments. Thank you 🙏
@zuzanaxyz8866 Жыл бұрын
A vast majority of all the decluttering videos and methods are NOT meant for people with the hoarding disorder. These cleaners and organisation gurus absolutely don’t get it. It’s not that hoarders can’t find a way to toss things and organize the rest, but they just can’t part with things, because it causes them emotional pain and distress. Hoarders are not stupid, that they wouldn’t be able to come up with a step by step plan to clean the house, the problem is very different and I haven’t seen a single “cleaning guru” who would understand this point. It’s just a very different problem.

Just don’t even know where to start. I have been watching you since early 2020. I have begun to understand why I was who I was. No I am no longer a hoarder. I am working on becoming a minimalist, but I never understood why. As a young woman, my house was full and many spots look the same as your. I cried all the time and hated myself. I could do so many things well but I couldn’t clean my house. Now that I listen to you, I understand what happened. But I have been watching KZbin on minimalism and getting rid of things constantly. My place looks great now and one other see it they don’t believe that I ever had an issue. I know I still have a small amount of areas that could use some help. But as an older woman, I hate seeing young women go through when I went through. God bless you for sharing. I know how embarrassing it is. And how you never want anyone to know. You are an amazing woman and are going to change lives forever.

Wow wow wow! Knowing the decisions you were making and why/how has been the number one thing when I found your channel in 2020 which helped me make movements for myself. When I found your videos, I went back to the very beginning, and binged them religiously over 6 months. It made the world of difference! Back to routines of being away from the home post-lockdowns has made it difficult to keep up with continuing progress, but I’m forever grateful I found your channel when I did. I was at my wit’s end with myself in my space, and no decluttering advice or channels resonated enough to help the way you did! It validated me, and actually helped me to realise I truly did have hoarding tendencies (not just a family “joke” towards me), but learn to curb them healthily and accept myself before I could learn to let go of the things without it hurting me. So thank you already for coming and helping on me in my home over these videos. It would be so exciting to see you meet others where they’re at and work through some rooms. Meeting you at the end of 2020, and starting over the videos from the beginning truly showed me what could be done. Nowadays I can’t keep up, but one day hopefully I’ll not have to overthink everything and “keep it because I’m not ready” all over again 😂 Whatever the future holds, you’re helping people already and I’m super grateful, admire your courage, and am so proud of your amazing achievements for you and your family at home. Thank you for sharing your journey so far. ✨ 🦄 💕

I think I've followed you from the start and while I don't have a channel and I have mobility problems, I've been slowly letting go of items and freeing up space in my home too. I love my local buy nothing group on facebook. I'm so looking forward to you having a beautiful basement downstairs, enjoying that space more with your family. I remember when you had the tornado warnings and thought it would have been great if you could have gone down there and been as comfortable as you are in the main part of your home. With sectional seating that you could lie on while waiting it out. Maybe a study area for your boys. Sorting and decluttering your crafts. Shopping from your stash to craft. Having a sorted drop zone in your laundry. Having a garage where you can keep your car. Maybe having a workshop for your husband in the shed behind the house. Having a sorted attic. Updating your other rooms as your family moves through the different stages of life as your boys grow. Lots to look look forward to in your own home as well as helping others. Keep up the great work!

Mel, you will never know just how much you have helped me. I am still at the beginning of this journey and it is so overwhelming. I identify with you so much it kind of blows my mind.. I also have ADHD and early childhood trauma, as well as specifically a bullying situation when I was 11..! The first time I heard you share that in one of your videos I immediately burst into tears because it felt like I truly wasn’t alone for possibly the first time ever. You know what a huge deal that is for people like us. (The best people 😊) I truly cannot thank you enough for having the courage to create this channel and put your story out there.. and I want to be the first on your waiting list for one-on-one coaching!!! 😂 listening to your vision for creating a support community in the future also brought me to tears (I really don’t even cry that much, lol) because that is exactly what I have been needing for so long. A place where my unique pain and struggle with hoarding/decluttering my home and life are understood and ACCEPTED with love, free of judgment. Thank you again so much for being you and for being on KZbin. ❤❤❤

Prayers your way on expanding the business. Your channel in itself is a teaching tool. I agree the KonMari Method didn't work for me either. Everything sparked joy or at least some type of memory. Im going through this currently..I was in a long term relationship for years and accumulated a lot of stuff..Than the break up came and i was forced to move and downsize my place..I got rid of a massive amount already..But struggling to get rid of the rest.Also dealing with shame and fear as well and i never showed anyone my hidden hoard..I am thankful its getting better..I am petrified of showing anyone because i have had lots of threats against me by people i trusted.. So i felt betrayed and now feel silenced and cant reach out.. :( sadly people by me are not as supportive..completly isolated and alone..Your videos help me to know,I am not the only one struggling with hoarding and healing and letting go..it took me about two years to get started after i moved from my old relationship..

I have been living for my things and my things have been controlling my life for years now! I have slowly been trying to get control of my hoarders starter kit of a home for about a year now. I was able to get rid of a good chunk of things, but then I realized there was the chunk left that I was still hanging onto because of emotional attachments. I have been in a stalemate until I found ur videos last night. Omg, u completely motivated me and made me understand what it is I have to do in order to move forward in my life! I went thru some deep traumas over the last 10 years and my “things” have made me feel safe, just looking at all these stupid things was a comfort! I would imagine how I was going to begin living life again, doing new hobbies and being this amazing grandmother to my grandchildren. What I was doing was just that living in this fantasy world, buried in my things and too overwhelmed to do anything with any of it! There of course is that perfectionism and OCD tenancies that would be sabotaging for me too! I have literally been miserable and overwhelmed 24/7 for the last 10 years! Thk u, thk for being brave enough to come forward and speak out about how u have overcome and dealt with ur pains, traumas and hoarding. U r such a positive light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel for so many ❤
