As a huge BUYER of these models, I have to say you guys are leaving SO MUCH money on the table by not doing full conversion to other software packages. Typically I've got corporate expense MONEY to burn, but not the TIME to deal with texture conversion headaches stemming from FBX models exported from MAX--as is sadly the norm for all these sites. All the material settings are off , and some nodes don't translate at all. You could charge me 3X the price for a fully converted Maya scene file that actually looks like the preview pic when I load it up. But I don't have the time to beg for that, or trust it'll be done properly on the fly. I'm there to buy models in the first place to SAVE time. Pick the top software packages, and do full conversions to their native format so the rest of us non-Max users can buy with some level of confidence.

Thank you for your comment, really appreciate the input. I try and convert to what i have access to, but can only convert to the ones i legally have access to and i think the same goes for a lot of sellers. Your input is good i fully agree with you, just not sure the problem can be tackled in its entirety.

Come to think of it, i lost 4 hours in conversion (mainly material issues) on a model i bought yesterday so i completely understand the frustration.

Thanks for the video sir. I'm saving up for an 2200 dollar 3d scanner to sell my own game ready 3d assets. I'm a game developer but have no modeling experience. I've researched enough to see that there's some work to be done after the scan, like generating PBR materials and creating LOD's, but there are tools out there that help automate a lot of this process. Is this a good idea or am i gonna run into some things i can't think of right now? The scanner im planning to buy is supposed to be quite high end, capturing geometry AND colors very well, it also has built in decimation to lower poly. So after that id have to create PBR materials, baking, LOD levels which i found "simplygon" can do. For the materials i saw tutorials for blender and substance. I feel like i can learn all these steps with some experience, and the scanner does the hardest part of all which is actually creating the high poly mesh and capturing original colors.

Hi there. Love the passion. Just maybe do a competition analasys to make sure you can compete with Quixell megascans. Could be good to work out your break even point based on a 1 percent conversion rate (prette standard for e-comm). So 100 views equalls one sale, what is that sale price, and how much do you get after tax for instance. You can also test the pbr and lod conversions without buying the scanner. Try scanning something with your phone, process it in reality capture and the do the LODs in blender. just to see how you go with the rest of the processes while you are still saving. You can check Gleb Alexandrov talk through the whole process but from a photogrammetry point of view. Let me know how it goes.

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words, really appreciate it. There is no definite rule for what sells but there are some guidelines that does help. 1. Do not model furniture or architecture or interiot props, this is entirely saturated. 2. Larger packs /high ticket items will earn more for your efforts 3. You can check the popular keywords in blendermarket/popular sales 4. Opt in for CGT analytics and check the category size vs category liquidity 5. Solve problems, in other words, as opposed to just doing 3d, pair up with a python coder and publish a software addon (like the Citybuilder 3d as an example on blendermarket) 5. Nothing beats experience. The more you do, the more you learn. 6. Whatever you publish, publish it well, spend time on the keywords, the description, the images, the thumbnail and your products first impression. Selling it well really helps!

HI, Good question. In short, there are a number of ways in which you can sell a product / 3d model online, the same for photos and videos Royalty-Free or editorial (CGTrader)(Blender Market)(Turbosquid) Standard use or extended use First, the simple answer is this: If it is entirely your own work, concept, idea, 3d, texture, everything - then sell it under royalty-free If it is representative of a real-world object that is on the market - then it HAS TO BE sold as editorial. Editorial content may contain logos and brands and represent real-life products. That being said, I would not model "sensitive industries" (read military or pharmaceutical) content even under editorial or at all even. While a photo could simply be licensed as editorial and published in an article, some companies seem to not view 3D the same. The primary red flag law for 3d artists modeling content contain logos or brands is called "passing off". Passing Off means that a large company might view you - as passing their content, under your name. While I have never had issues around passing off, I was politely asked to take down a model under that particular clause. Generally, speaking though, Anything that exists in the real world - sell under editorial. Anything else - sell under Royalty-free. Licensing like standard and commercial has more to do with its end use limits and not the Copywrite side. Let me know if you need more detail and I can respond with (hopefully) a formulated response from either Blender Market or CGT or both. Regards and thank you for your time watching the video!

@@HubertKnoblauch3DContentOnline this is so nice of you ! Thanks so much. I do have some other questions if you wouldnt mind answering them ... could you explain ''editorial'' a little more ? what does this mean for a (lets say phone) model if i sell it editorial ? what does this mean for me, if i want to sell them on my own website ? is it really true that if i model a 1:1 iphone (or whatever) product that the company could sue me ? also what would the consequenses be ? i mean are we talking about prison time or couple 100 bucks as fee ? im not expecting that you tell me excalty how much it would cost but just to give me some glimpse of an idea ;) (btw im hinting to websites like dimensiva.com) i really dont want to throw them under the bus because i absolutley love what they do, but i always wonderd how they to that.... thanks so much for taking time dude !! really appreciate it !

@@shivrammahendran Sincerest apologies, for not getting to your answer sooner, here it is: There are typically 2 routes, feed based and search based. I recommend using a combination of the 2 Feed based - is good for creating general awareness Instagram - good for general awareness more of you as an artist, less to do with the products. The negative is the VERY short post lifespan but if you post stories (daily) you will remain top of feed for your followers. When you use insta - use it in combination with other "awareness drivers" because of the decline in organic reach it is currently undergoing See link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2Sco2Stgcpsgrc Again, this is good for GENERAL AWARENESS and GREAT for building an audience. Once you have an audience, you can do wonders, i have made some CGTrader as well as Blender market purchases from people that I follow on Insta. I like their quality and know they create a certain type of content and so i have specifically looked for them on CGT and BM. Search based - searching for a specific product. This is powerfull because here you get to hone in on specific target searches Artstation with backlinks Behance with backlinks KZbin with description links See link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6KXaXiKrqd5rsk People searching for a specific product can find yours here, then link it back to CGT or another 3d site, where they can buy it - i recommend taking the opportunity to up-sell it here When you have been at it for 6 months or so, please keep in mind that ANALYTICS is your friend. Check your stats (i see a lot of CGT sales with buyers coming from youtube for example). Again, happy to help, sincerest apologies for taking so long. Please if you are still wondering about one or 2 things, Just ask and i will do my best to get back to you.

Did someone think about the fact that there will be in 5-25 years soooo many models that there will be many (nealry) dupe models and the price will fall down a lot. So I would not use this to much as a passive income. I mean at least not as main income, even if it rocks by now.
@HubertKnoblauch3DContentOnline
@HubertKnoblauch3DContentOnline 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for bringing this up. It does need to be spoken about. I believe that you are right in the sense that the 3D "stock" market will in 5 years be saturated (we saw it in the stock photography being (1) saturated and (2) affected by industry change - primarily away from still towards video. How this will translate into the 3D industry (i think) is: 1. Static assets (in other words assets like Nature scans, furniture, architectural elements) which does not change or changes very little over time will be entirely saturated and undervalued. 2. Dynamic assets - in other words assets like tech innovation and other fast paced industries will do well FOR THOSE WHO ARE FAST ENOUGH to get quality assets out quickly. 3. It will be harder to freelance, competition will grow with 3D apps like display land, Meshroom etc. What this all means for the individual is contextual - for me - I do 3D Passive Income as a SIDE-HUSSLE, while i am a product designer (day Job). I will continue to sell content that i make however the sole purpose for their production is not sales, it is (1) exerience / learning (2) portfolio content (3) content re-purposing and most important (4) FUN!!!!!! Thanks for the input - as with anything, it is important to consider both sides of the coin and make your own calculated, informed decision. appreciate the comment.
