Luv the ETFs. I own both SCHD and DGRO. SCHD is one of my cores in the managed portfolio. I also own VPU (utilities ETF), AMD tech stocks, but I also own an individual utility company like DUK.

Recently, a new type of tail risk hedge has been added to SVOL. Currently, we have about 17K contracts in long US 2-year Treasury futures calls. These have a notional value of about $1.7B, which is over 200% of SVOL 's AUM. These will pay off big if the 2 year Treasury futures rise in value above 106. This could be triggered by an SPX market crash. This position is similar to the 80K long VIX 50 calls and therefore adds robustness.

Didnt the stock price drop 20-25% from it's inception 2021 (thru 2022) until early 2023? I didn't see you account for that significant financial drop.

I am considering selling another position and buying SVOL. What are opinions on dividend consistency? It was cut from 32 to 30 last summer. Is 30 going to be sustainable or is it going down again?
@mattolson6861
@mattolson6861 3 ай бұрын
what do you mean it was cut? I'm not sure you understand what SVOL is my friend, it's an ETF not a company or business, these are not dividends, these are distributions, same concept however - expect some fluctuations a bit on income
@johnsmith-wt5dz
@johnsmith-wt5dz 3 ай бұрын
@@mattolson6861 I know most of these ETFs have a variable distribution, looking at the history of SVOL, from 5/22 - 7/3/23 it paid an even 32 cents. From 7/31/23 to present the distribution has been 30 cents. Based on that it seems like they are trying to keep a stable distribution. Consistency is important to me so I am trying to get insight into the likelihood of it dropping again in the future.

$50,000 is like 2300 share, X .30 cents. that is like $690 per month dividend. good. and the SVOL has not really fluctuated past $22 a share. though IF it does and drops $1 there goes 2300 bucks. that is 4 months of dividends. again YMAG or YMAX is diverse and pays (about) .65 per share, per month.

SVOL essentially a indirect way to be bullish on SP500. Most of SVOL's holdings is short term bonds. Generally its going to have total returns close to the sp500 index. I used to have a bunch of it but no longer do since I am mostly in a hedged FEPI position with more yield and better down side protection than SVOL offers.

@@rashid138888 ETF's with higher dividend yields tend to have a larger expense ratio which will severely impact growth in the long term. Lower cost ETF's help keep more money in your pocket and tend to out preform most managed funds. Always research anything you invest into but a few examples are VIG, VYM, SCHD, and VNQ. For honorable mention: NOBL is decent as well with only .35% cost basis.

Fepi > Svol. 50k into fepi is about $12-13k a year or $1043* a month. Cony, Nvdy, Ybtc are also good runner-up's. I hope msty pays out well whenever it does. I believe both fepi and svol pay out majority ROC/return of Captial so your not taxed until your cost basis reaches zero or until you sell.
