Thank you Sarah! I've been looking for 1.0 starter tips for a couple days now, but didn't find anything too useful yet. Until your video here. As stated before, I have just discovered the game recently. Most of the mentioned tips are things that I have found out myself by now, but I still learned something useful from this video for my own start in about 4 hours (e.g. switching combat mode settings to avoid unwanted conflicts with the cave creatures).

A tip I have is just an alternate method of play for more intermediate players who are restarting - when your stamina bar is super low because your skills are at level 1, setting the game time to 100% is really helpful so it doesn't feel like you're constantly running out of energy. I'll use up my stamina bar in 15 mins, spend some time foraging and chatting, then go to bed. It's also convenient to push through the seasons so you can access new foragables and critters!

Just got the game ( steam winter sale), 2nd winter. My favourite thing i have just discovered is you can vault the fences by pressing space

I discovered last night that if you do New Game+, your settings from the original save file carry over. I had set my time to 60% during early access and that carried over, as did my sprint/jog preferences. So that's helpful!

To comment on the scarecrow part of the video, Ben (who lives in the van in the woods) often sells them at his shop. I also want to say that the crows only trigger if your plots exceed a certain threshold, so if you have a small plot of crops, I believe you are safe. But I recommend buying a scarecrow from Ben. It's the same as the one you can craft and is available by day 6 or 7.

I played for 6hours before watching this video and I’m very glad that I did :D It took me 4 hours of gameplay to figure out what to do with all those mysterious clover spots, hahah! Renaming the chests is such a headache saver, I didn’t notice this was an option. Changing the game time speed will be a game changer while doing the cavern and cleaning the sea, thanks for the tip!

It's like they took SV as a base, but added a lot of useful features (slowing length of day, customizable buttons, etc.) I only got this yesterday but can't wait to get back to it after work today and using some of your great tips!

@@diamondly6250 I mean I sold everything on my farm for gold. When the 1.0 update hit if you had a previous save file you could restart the game with the gold you had on that file. Since I'd be losing the file anyway, I sold everything to start over with as much gold as possible. I hope that answers your question!

Oh thank the gaming gods that loot attracts to you like a magnet. I will never understand why this isn't a gaming standard. It makes my eye twitch when I loot something and then have to pick it up. Depending on the game of course, this can be cumbersome when an enemy jumps off a ledge, dies and the loot is wedged because a place I cannot get to.
