The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Just another video Idea. You should make a "What If?" episode about what if Arvydas Sabonis came to the blazers when he was originally drafted and if he wasn't injured. The way people talk about him in his prime, he would have changed nba history and him and drexler may have taken a few championships away from the bulls, lakers or celtics.

Bill Russell was almost 6’10” barefoot and was ranked seventh in the WORLD in the high jump. He was arguably the greatest defensive player ever and one of the greatest leaders the sport has ever seen. No team would have to change their system to accommodate him either. Put him in today’s NBA and he’d still be one of the greats.

@@369pendulum plenty of those players had their careers elevated due to playing with bill russell...he almost single-handedly controlled the defensive part of the game so the others could focus on their own aspects of the game, and with him controlling the middle of the floor and opposing players afraid to drive to the paint, it made it easier for them to handle their defensive assignments...and the whole argument of the 9 team thing is so misrepresented, with less teams, there's no dilution of talent, and every team is stacked...maybe you're right and boston was more stacked than others, but other teams had players too...as far as your asterisk argument, there aren't asterisks anywhere, and neither should there be here...pete rose is still the hits leader, barry bonds is still the home run king...bill russell is still the goat, asterisk not needed

I can see a team with prime sabonis and drexler taking a championship the celtics or the bulls in the 80s /early 90s. The way people who saw Sabonis play in his prime talk about him, he must have been an all time great player. people say he was a giant big guy, with the passing sense and game IQ of magic johnson. The guy we saw in portland in the nba was a over 30 rookie with lots and lots of injuries. But people who saw him in his prime say he he may have been the GOAT.

Let me preface this with saying that I believe Wilt would have been great in any era. That being said had his career started in 1970 or later he would have never put up the averages that he did in the first few years of his career. In the early 60s the league was literally playing at it's fastest pace in history. For instance each team missed on average 60+ shots per game back then (120 total rebound opportunities per game) and this allowed for Wilt to rack up obscene amounts of rebounds and 2nd chance point. He would put up great numbers in any era, but just not numbers like that. Also what always seems to get swept under the rug when talking about the size of his opponents back then (specifically early to mid 60s) was their actual weight and strength. Wilt in his early days was about as big as a young Shaq and the players that he was facing (even the ones 6'10"+) were somewhere between 210-230 lbs. Even his biggest rival back then Russell was all of 6'9" 215 lbs. In essentially every era following the 60s big men were routinely between 250 and 300 lbs. Players were simply built for the fast pace of the league and that is why they were more slim and absolutely no match for Wilt's strength. TBF that also points to how impressive Wilt's endurance was to be able to play so many minutes at such a big size. Ultimately Wilt would have been great in any era as there is no question that he was a massive guy with great strength and athleticism. He also had good touch all the way out to the mid range. It would have been awesome to see him face off with a prime Shaq. That would have been a ton of size and strength going right at one another down low.

Well yes, he did but there's more to being the best than that small list of attributes. I think wilt would have been a lot of trouble for Hakeem. But Olajuwon at his best was magnificent and rarely gets the respect he deserves possibly because he isn't an American. He's in my top 10 all time, all positions.

Hakeem was great. But he wasn't quicker or faster than Russell (not faster than Cowens & several others either), and only won when MJ was on vacation. He's no higher than #4 tops.

LeBron would do *great* in the 80's and 90's. He's got mad skills and fantastic athleticism, and his size would mean he'd be a really strong post defender. He'd be like a Karl Malone with better ball-handling.

@AaronMichaelLong 3 жыл бұрын
@@arionbrmell6049 I don't know that I agree with that. LeBron is still a tremendous natural athlete, and moving him back in time 20-40 years isn't going to change that. Maybe he wouldn't get as swole as he is, maybe his career would end sooner. But he didn't get any special training in high school, and he was averaging 20 points in his rookie year.

I mean i love players with skills and those who can shoot the ball, which is why steph is my fav current player but man, the amount of threes teams shoot nowadays is just stupid. the warriors shoot threes, go to the basket AND shoot midrange jumpers. but teams looked at that and went "oh yeah, lets just shoot threes and go for layups so that our offense is less diverse and more predictable". i understand that the game changes over time (always has and always will) but parts of it just aint fun anymore. not saying bigs cant go to the perimeter but damn, it would be nice to see them bang in the low post and be physically dominant again.
@Iltffny
@Iltffny 4 жыл бұрын
just thought about what shaun livingston wouldve been like on another team. they might not play him as much cuz he cant shoot the three or make him practise that shit all day long even though his midrange is straight money. the warriors looked at their personnel and said "this is what they r good at individually and collectively so lets try to maximize that". other teams saw that and tried to copy it without actually looking at the talent they got and what they r good at. not saying this as a "warriors this/warriors that" kind of thing but it just infuriates me that other teams have been operating the way they have. i get that different skill sets r more prioritized/valued during any given era but damn, every player is talented in different ways so why not just let them be them instead of trying to mold them into players who can do nothing but shoot threes on offense.

Fairy Tail I agree to some extent. I don’t think it’s justified to call any one player the best of all time. There’s too many variables. In my opinion Kobe is the best of all time for my own personal reasons. But I wouldn’t say somebody is wrong for thinking it’s Wilt, MJ, Lebron, etc.

They’d definitely adapt but with the attitude a lot of them have now, they’d get the everliving shit kicked out of them at first. I mean, LeBron just stayed on the ground for a minute & a half from being poked in the head. That shit won’t fly in an era where hard defense is actually played & celebrated. Nonetheless, like Jonnny said they would all adapt at some point.
