What was hilarious to me is that so many of these clownish media platforms (Cam, Mase) and artists (50, Big Joe, etc.) demonstrated an East Coast bias and only grudgingly conceded that Kendrick won once the court of public opinion ignored their attempts to downplay the impact and quality of Kendrick's responses and started blasting "Not Like Us" on repeat. It really was an eye-opening exercise in media manipulation, and I suspect that viewers no longer trust them--if they ever did. I wholeheartedly agree that their behaviour and response to NLU serves as a dividing line and litmus test. Hip hop's commercial power and popularity are waning and some are going to cling to the old order of Drake's dominance of genre and any associated revenue like a safety raft. I am sure that there are many of them who don't think they can survive without the so-called stimulus package...
