I'll never understand why as SOON as you hit 40 in rap & hip hop you have to instantly become garbage or have to stop doing what you're good at. music is the least taxing job the brain never stops AND YOU SHOULD GET BETTER WITH AGE! the retirement age for a job is late 60s so if you can still rap circles around cats why stop?

Hip Hop as a whole is only 45 years old as a genre, our artists should be able to make music and tour until they die of old age if they want, just like artists from every other genre. Hov said he was going to rap until 77 on Reasonable Doubt. Wu-Tang said they were Forever. Hate him or love him, Em said "Till I Collapse" I'm spilling' these raps. Not until he turns 40 and people get tired of him, until he Collapses. Only in Hip Hop do kids not respect their elders and do their research to push the veterans as much as the new artists, we need to love them all, so Im glad Wayne dropped the Carter V and still went platinum. Glad Royce, Phonte, Masta Ace, KRS-One and others are till killing it

What factors make 50 Cent irrelevant? Like, he has a popular show he executive produces and stars in. He's as relevant on social media as the likes of Lil Yachty and Playboi Carti and most new poppin artist, as in he gets the same amount of likes on his posts, and has more followers.. He's about to put out his own show on BET too. He ain;t made an album in 3 years but his last one sold 124k. Not as big as he was back the day, but he's definitely not irrelevant.

@PrimeraEspadaStark
@PrimeraEspadaStark 5 жыл бұрын
@@derricklogue2158 Whats not "Okay" about 150k? Dropping in sales over time is inevitable, no music artist can maintain the same level of commercial sales for their entire career, that doesn't mean they no longer have the right to make music, when most artists never make it too platinum status to begin with and still make music for decades. Being "Relevant" is a dumb ass concept anyway. Respect artists for their hussle regardless of if their the new "hot thing". So Cardi B and Post Malone are more relevant than say Wayne just because they sell more? Hell no, 50 cent still gets club play, and Wayne and Jay still make all-time GOAT lists. Being the Current commercial star don't equal relevance in Hip Hop culture
@derricklogue2158
@derricklogue2158 5 жыл бұрын
@@PrimeraEspadaStark I agree with just abt everything you said✔ You took my response wrong. And reading it a year later my self I can see why. How much a rapper sold has never influenced how I listen to music . I wish I COULD sell 150k!👊👊👊👊👊 The laff was hearing someone defending 50 career after all the shit 50 do to fuck with somebody's career 😂😂😂. 4:44 was classic Hov " to ME." So to hear 50 call jay album" elevator music " and say how he not "in with the youth" is funny to me when his nmbrs says he's less in the loop. Smh.... Anyway, it's all gd at the end of the dae -✌

50 is a smart dude but sometimes he can be ignorant af. Jay just trying to uplift his people, what's wrong with sounding smart? At least give the young ones the option to choose between mindless party/junkie music and the conscious rap, don't hide the truth. Not every record has to be a party record. And of course he can be the best rapper at 47, it's not like we're talking about boxing here. I respect fif but I sense just a little jealousy.
@TheMelMan

Fif is a troll. If you follow him on insta that is his personality. He's not trying to be deep or critical. Like Joe said, Fif just likes to have fun with Jay. And Jay know it. Look up their history. There's even a T.I concert where Jay Z was on stage and Fif climbed up and started pushing Jay around.

You get a billi. And then? If you're smart, 150mil and 1 bil is the same lifestyle. People with hundreds of millions have the same lifestyle access as billionaires and access to the same places. If you're going for status and stunting on other people then that's just counter productive. Jay is thirsty for a billi cause Jay has a god complex and wants to be the king of black America. But on your death bed, a billi doesn't matter. Don't live for money.

I was a big fan of J coped his albums back when Tower Records was around yeaaaaa most won't even know what that was lol but stopped listening to him when he said dumb down my audience to double my dollars that struck a nerve. But this album gave it a chance agree with fif somewhat.

You still don't get why he said that? Read some of the comments. ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING THE POINT NOW.... Just because you may understand deeper into songs and lyrics doesn't mean everyone can. And at the time he made that quote, just like NOW, idiot rap sold more units or occupied the airwaves. He gave you the truth

I hear you it's just I'm not one of them dumb down fans, I also believe that it takes a leader to lead the novice into becoming a master. For example you know the saying only the strong survive? Shouldn't the strong teach the weak how to become strong so they can survive to? My point J has the voice and power to swift a whole generation but he rather dumb it down to double more of his dollars? Such a selfish attitude especially when he has the ears of millions.

Regis Philben said he would never talk to Kathy/Kelly before the show or hang out with them, so that when they were on the show it would be organic conversation and catch up. I think Joe has a point about not talking/rehearsal before hand when it is a talk show/off the cuff type show.
