Okay okay okay okay okay Since my love of all things cephalopod is apparently not a widespread phenomenon, I will now blow the mind of every other 90's and 00's kid from America: The most correct plural of octopus is OCTOPUSES Come on friends do you think I would get up in a video and be like "I LUV OCTOPUSES YO" and then say the incorrect plural NO OF COURSE NOT There are three plurals: Octopuses Octopodes Octopi Octopi is the most well-known from my era, but it's actually the most incorrect and is only an accepted plural now because it's been used so much! It's based off of the incorrect assumption that octopus is a Latin word, and so it was given the Latin plural (-i). Octopus however was Greek word, and so the correct ending would have been octopodes. But this is rare and not commonly used. Octopuses was the first plural to have existed in English and it has been and still is the most commonly used! So technically you could use all three, but as octopi is based off of an incorrect assumption and it's not even the most common ending (even though in my era that's what many people were calling it), I go with octopuses. Even though octopi is really fun to say.

I also had a lack of judgement with the sun. When I was 16, I fell asleep in the sun for about 30 minutes. My friend also napped on the beach. She had a nice tan and I got second degree burns on the back of my legs and my lower back. I had to go to the hospital. My skin blistered, swelled, became yellow, and did many nasty things I will not mention. I had a standing job where I had to walk, but the burns prevented me from bending my knees/not walking like I had peg legs. Lesson to all: use sunscreen, especially if you are pale.
@Deadpann_ann6 жыл бұрын
I totally feel for you, I had to sit at a baseball game for at least 2 hours and I knew I should have put on sunscreen cause my skin is pasty pasty white but I didn't cause I thought I was all cool and hardcore...my thighs (cause I was wearing shorts) got sunburnt, after a day they turned completely purple, it was like someone took a baseball bat and just bruised my legs and for my job I had to wear pants cause I work with hot water and my pants just rubbed against my skin and it peeled and it was really bad. My mom said I was really close to getting second degree burns but I was lucky enough. I can't imagine what you must have been through but I know where you're coming from .
@arieldanielle236 жыл бұрын
Oh honey I am so sorry! The last time I had a beach trip I made a big thing about how I don't really sunburn (I'm native American and have olive type skin). I fell asleep on my back with my bum exposed to the sun for a couple hours and everyone LAAAUUUGHED because it was obviously sunburned... but then 2 days later the skin was back to normal. No blistering, no peeling, nothing but a good day of soreness. Still, I use a lot of sunscreen and I will ALWAYS share with people. It's just common sense.
@IceMetalPunk5 жыл бұрын
Me, too :( It was like 4 or 5 years ago, my family went to the beach, and I was like, "I don't like the way that sunscreen feels all greasy. So I just won't use any. I'm sure I'll be fine; I don't mind a little sunburn." Got home and had such a painful, blistery burn over my shoulders and neck. I had multiple deep layers of skin peeling for weeks. It even left brown sunspots across my shoulders that apparently are permanent... that can't be healthy >_< All because I didn't want to be greasy for a few hours...

A backwards tooth: I didn't even know that was possible. Aren't they locked in a socket permanently?
@RachelandJun8 жыл бұрын
+Letters from Japan Well it was horizontal in my gum, so they went up and surgically attached a brace to it, which they pulled down with a chain. They put the brace on the wrong side so it got pulled down backwards. They said you can rotate it with braces once it's down, but at my age now and the time it would take, it's not worth it. It'd be better just to put everything else back in place and then get a crown or whatever it is to change the shape if necessary. I'll just see what it looks like after the Invisalign's done! I don't know that I care enough about it to cap it or anything.

You are not boring, Rachel brings in the funs and upbeat vibes and Jun gives it a calm, thoughtful counterpart. Like Ying and Yang, you are in balance :) And I don't think Jun's hobbies are boring, they are just things that have a zen aspect(please don't be offendet >.>) to them. And I am obsessed with everything kitchen and cooking as well, there is so so much cool stuff out there! Have you ever seen the fume exrtactor by BORA? It is unlike anything you have ever seen, I promise :D

I hate second degree burns. I've had them twice now 'cause I guess I just did not learn the first time. :c

I used to get bad sunburn with big blisters every summer at school outings. They were the worst!

+Katherine Weber I got a sunburn as bad as Rachel did when I was visiting Turkey. Turns out the Mediterranean coast sun can go straight through cotton shirts. I was burned so badly my body went into shock, nearly ended up in a local hospital. I didn't think I needed to put sunscreen on _under_ clothing. (o_O)

+aallhh A Yeah, I stopped going out in the sun as much after that, and now I never go outside without at least a light SPF. P: I was really young when I got them.

I can't eat things that are too mushy either, but I draw the line at porridge. Also, cephalopods are freaking awesome! My favorite ones are the ones that have really advanced forms of mimicry, like the mimic octopus and the common cuttlefish. Some of the tiny colorful cuttlefish are really cute too!

Fear of giant costumes here, too. As a kid, I wouldn't go near costumed people. Never been close to Santa.

I don't like cooked vegetables either. You must not like eggplant then? I don't like eggplant cuz it's mushy

I feel like Rachel is so relatable, or at least we have a lot in common, besides a few things like I like mushrooms, I'm ok with eating mushy/soupy foods, my favorite animals are cats, and I prefer Cuddlefish to Octopuses...but still pretty darn relatable
@cherylong68008 жыл бұрын
From Merriam Webster: Other forms: plural oc·to·pus·es or oc·to·pi\-ˌpī\ We are all correct:)
