There is a man in England named Clive Wearing he was a conductor and musician who in 1985 caught a virus which caused him to lose his memory he retained his skills he knows how to walk, talk, eat, etc but he has no memory and can't retain new memories with his mind wiping itself clean every 7 seconds. He can watch sports and listen to music because those activities allow him to enjoy the activity in the moment while reading or watching films is out of the questions because he forget the plots mid sentence of a scene. @@VerowakReactsdo note that a lot of his other comedies are loud brash low brow humor. If you like those they’re pretty funny, but they are not on par with this. The Wedding Singer is also excellent and is more in line with the quality of 50 First dates (and also stars Drew Barrymore.)
@wanderingidle48485 сағат бұрын
I can't help but love all the Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler rom-cons (yes, even Blended). My favorite part of this is probably how, while every day Lucy wakes up to what is ostensibly the same day, she's always in a different mood, and responds to Henry's advances differently - but is always cute, and funny, and kind of adorable. Having grown up in Hawaii, the way he's able to sleep with different tourist women on their last night is actually really realistic (not something I ever did - I moved away in my teens - but I saw it happen and definitely had some more innocent experiences). What always kind of bothered me about this movie is that it relies on the "love at first sight" trope, which allows him to go from manipulative and emotionally abusive to being a perfect good guy in a single day. This movie could be so much darker, but in order to avoid that they couldn't have an antagonist, or even have anyone in her life get frustrated or angry with her even once. There are so many ethical questions about all the decisions made in the movie, but Henry doesn't once abuse or exploit the tremendous power he holds over Lucy - even just to take a day off. Even Tom Hanks in "You've Got Mail" is more manipulative. The one place they messed on how they depict Hawaii (aside from Rob Schneider, who always plays a racist stereotype in Adam Sandler movies) is when 10 Second Tom compliments Doug's shoes, and refers to them as "flip-flops". People in Hawaii just call them slippers (or, "slippahs"). It's a minor nitpick, but is kind of jarring. Also, isn't there some kind of law in Canada that punishes you for not recognizing Dan Akroyd?

I can't remember if I've given you this spiel before, but if you want to see some young Sean Astin, well, if you haven't seen "The Goonies" yet, that's a classic from the 80s that he's in, and in "Rudy" he's already an adult, but it's an inspirational sports movie based on a true story that some men get very emotional about. Though a couple, maybe more obscure ones that were favorites from my youth, are "White Water Summer" with Kevin Bacon, which is like a coming of age adventure/thriller that was after "The Goonies", when he was a teenager, and "Toy Soldiers" which is an action flick with Lou Gossett Jr., that was a little bit later when he was probably already an adult, but he played a teenager. All of those are good flicks! For Adam Sandler it's pretty easy. "Billy Madison" and "Happy Gilmore" are the two original oldschool Adam Sandler flicks that are kind of a must. I'd start there. "The Wedding Singer", that's also with Drew Barrymore, and "Big Daddy" are also a couple favorites of mine. "Punch Drunk Love" was his first "I've been the wacky comedy guy, but now I want to be taken serious as an actor" movie. It's a Paul Thomas Anderson movie, which if you don't know him yet, that's another story, but it's a dark comedy/drama/romance that's very odd and quirky, but interesting because of it type of movie. "Spanglish" was another serious role he did that I like, though I feel like he's not the real star of, and I haven't seen it yet myself, but like a handful or more years ago, "Uncut Gems" was a thriller/crime movie he did on Netflix that people say was very good, and that was a great dramatic performance from him.

There is someone extremely close to 10 second Tom. There is a guy by the name of Clive Wearing in the UK that has a memory that resets every 15-30 seconds after he got a herpes simplex virus that attacked his central nervous system. He was 47 when it started and he is now 86. His wife takes care of him now and you can find a documentary on him if you look his name. In an interview, someone asked what does it feel like to have his condition. He basically said it feels like nothing, it feels like I am dead.

I watched this once, in the theater at release, and I remember thinking "wow, that was surprisingly sweet and full of heart for an Adam Sandler comedy about steroid wet dreams and walrus penises". All these years later I didn't really trust my high-school-aged self's judgment of it, but based on this reaction it really is a very moving film. Back in the day, Adam Sandler was known for movies that were crude and broad but still very funny. His reputation went down over time. What I remember as the archetypal good Adam Sandler comedies were Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. I never saw The Waterboy, but I believe that is in the same category. From what I hear, Click gets a lot of buzz as his best movie that is more than just a comedy.

Okay, I had to double-check but, yep! This is the first rom-com you've reacted to on the channel, and I would happily watch more from you. I'm a total sucker for rom-coms. It doesn't matter how cheesy, formulaic, entirely predictable, I tear up every time they overcome their difficulty and get back together at the end of the film. Like superhero movies, they are license to just turn off all critical thoughts, close my editorial eye, tell the continuity director in the back of my head to take a few hours off, and enjoy the laughs. It's nice when they have something new to say. It's cool when they put a novel twist in the formula. It's not required though. As long as it's rom and com, I'm in.

Eventually, but how many are shown in the movie?

I think the title is also meant to be a pun based on the fact that it's set in Hawaii. I've seen a surprisingly widespread misconception that it's the "fifty first state". Obviously it's the fiftieth, but I guess the fact that it became a state in living memory (1959), and that the US having 50 states feels like it's older than that, gave rise to the misconception. I don't hear people say it that much these days - I don't know if it was a more common misconception 20 years ago or if I just spent more time around ignorant people back then.

By the way what actually is the mammal with the largest boy bits it would be basically any type of whale basically what a male human typically has multiply that by 12 and you get a typical whale

So about 5.5 feet.

@3DJapan yeah depending on the species it can be a little more a little less but yeah basically cuz some human males can have really itty bitty ones or really really huge ones and it's basically amongst the different species of whale it basically averages out to be about a foot to each inch a guy might have to put this in perspective I'm a woman who's barely 5 ft tall the average whale dick is bigger than me

Maybe you would like these other movies from Adam Sandler. "Punch-Drunk Love"(2002) and "Click"(2006).

Blended is also a must watch. I actually enjoy it more than 50FD, even though I absolutely love 50FD.
