Do you think something similar could be done with Whites Boots Millwood line? I am disappointed with the longevity of the Vibram crepe soles, but I am satisfied with their comfort.

I used to wear the 70's crepe soul dessert boots from Kenny's Shoe store until you could no longer find them. Most comfortable shoe I ever wore and great for roofing on sheet iron. They really stuck. My son bought me a pair of Hey dudes in that same shoe. Very comfortable but not a everyday shoe by any means.

Many years ago, I once had a pair of desert boot type shoes. They were very nice and comfortable, soft with a smooth leather outer. I really loved those shoes! But I wore the sole out on them and thought I'd have to throw them out. Then one day, I came across a little shoe repair shop and asked if they could be resoled using a heavy duty Vibram sole. He said yes, but when I got tjem back, I was so disappointed! I hadn't considered that the design of the upper was unsuitable for the very heavy Vibrams that I had requested. The shoes were not confortable, and the lacing system of desert boots never provided the type of support for the weight of the sole. I really could not wear them and ended up throwing them out afterall.
@GLHS5922 жыл бұрын
I never heard of these shoes until January of this year when my son was talking about them. They are really popular over here in Hickman County, TN with the kids. I see a few adults wearing them. My kids love them and rave about how comfortable they are. I reluctantly tried a pair on in the store and didn't think they were all that comfy or good looking. They're just not my style.

Nice upgrade. As a fun diy whim a while back i also did this to my Native Miles eva shoes when its eva sole wore out. I peeled off the tread of a used car tire and used it as the new outsole. I've used it for years when walking my dog and i just repair it when it starts to delaminate in places, usually the front. Good day and God bless. Cheers!

Those 'Hey Dude' shoes are constructed/built like nice house slippers. Originally, they must be pretty comfortable, but probably don't last long when used as regular day-to-day shoes. What an interesting and nice project. [this video sort of reminds me of Nick's rebuilding that pair of Doc Martens--taking a well-known product to an entirely different level]
@KDlGG2 жыл бұрын
They last as long as it’s just a day to day show and not a work shoe, if you’re just walking a moderate amount and don’t literally abuse these things they last. I know people who wear them almost daily and they’re lasting 3 years so far

As someone who has great pain when I walk due to arthritis and nerve damage - Hey Dude shoes are invaluable - I discovered them a couple of years ago and have owned several pairs. I don't know that I would buy any but they look comfortable. The question for me would be how long would they actually last? If you can only get one summer out of them and have to pitch them I think I would try to find something that had a little bit more longevity even if the price went up.
