$50 homemade snowplow - part 1

When it snows overnight I just pull this out of my truck bed, hitch it into my rear receiver, and back out of the garage, clearing my driveway in 3 passes.
Homemade DIY snowplow for under $50. Connects to the rear hitch receiver using a HAUL-MASTER 8-In-1 Adjustable Ball Mount Hitch, which allows me to adjust the height/angle of the plow. It pivots up/down to stay in contact with the ground.
Truck is a first gen Chevy Colorado Z85 with G80 locking rear diff. and 4:10 ratio.

I got a front hitch on another vehicle a few years later and that was nice plowing forwards. Since this plow is so light it's hard to clear snow that's already been driven over (hence why I didn't flip it and pull it forward to plow). The plow can pivot up and down and the angle is adjustable, is that what you meant by "float"?

What material is it made of?

Where did you get the blade from?

The blade is just a piece of 1/8" thick hardboard. You can find them in 4x8 sheets at Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. It has held up well. Initially I was worried it would get soaked and fall apart, but it hasn't. I spray painted it (yellow) to help waterproof it a little. Most of the snow sheds right off of it. Whatever snow does stick to it, melts and dries quickly. A sheet of plastic would probably work better though.

What's the blade made of

The bottom cutting edge is a beveled 2x4. The rest of the blade is MDF board with a waxy coating.

Where'd you get the parts from and what exactly did you use?

All parts are from any typical hardware store. The frame is just wood with angle iron screwed to it to reinforce it in certain places, and the blade is hardboard bent to fit the frame and screwed/glued in place (all from Menards). The hitch is the HAUL-MASTER 8-In-1 Adjustable Ball Mount Hitch from Harbor Freight. It has several holes I could bolt the plow to at different heights to get the angle of the plow just right. I used a grade 8 bolt for this connection point (after bending a grade 2 bolt). The whole thing was spray painted to help waterproof it.
