Great solution showing you can build a custom vehicle without breaking the bank.

Thanks man. This was definitely the best budget mod I've ever done to one of my vehicles.

Y’all made that fifty dolla Hydroboost mod look easy peazy lemon squeezy! Looked like a fun project too.

Hey bud...Looks like we did the same thing! Going to hydroboost was the best move ever. My vacuum booster was garbage. I actually flipped my booster the opposite way you did and bought the 200$ CPP hoses for mine. Works like a charm! Great channel brother!
@DJsHotRodFab Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I will probably do the flip in the future when I get custom hoses. It's definitely the best upgrade I have made to this truck.

I just got a pump hosed hydro boost and master cylinder off of like a 95 ish Chevy 1 ton.

Only thing I never liked on these trucks is the sloppy steering. Gotta turn the wheel 6 times to turn the wheel a bit.

For sure, could use a rack and pinion upgrade.

@@DJsHotRodFab I don’t know if this is true but they say, not confirmed by me that you can use a quick ratio box from a 80s Monte Carlo SS. You can’t use a regular g body one. It has to be the cars optioned with the quick ratio box.
@DJsHotRodFab10 ай бұрын
@@imonaroll9502 I've never heard of that mod. That would be a nice upgrade. Or you could use a steering quickener.
@imonaroll950210 ай бұрын
@@DJsHotRodFab yep. But I heard that you needed a steering shop to help. I sold my 70 Chevy so I never did it. I’m supposed to buy a truck later this month.
I run a 90’s jeep ps pump on my 68 charger power box. I cut the end off the OE high press line and cut cut the end off the stock jeep metric line. I joined them with a stainless compression coupling. Has been good for many years.

Nice! The kits to do this are $500. I was shocked I could do it for so cheap.

if you can't find a junked old army pickup to get one, what other trucks or vehicles work for a 70 c10

I need to go to the junk yard I have the same issue smh I never knew I could do that But I can't fabricate all the items like you did I have a 79 c10 I d like to bring it you lmao it's really not show truck but it's nice to me

There are kits out there. You could probably get away without modifying the pedal and just drilling the hole in the best spot you can

Hey guys. Good channel. Thx for sharing this with us all. So did your original p/s pump have just 2 lines ? Pressure and return ? I thought the hydro set up needs 3 on the pump. 1 pressure and 2 returns ? Or is that why you used the T fitting ? Thx again. I just subscribed to your channel. I’m working on an 81 c30 I pulled out of a junkyard. lol missing lots of stuff but I felt the need to rescue it. Plus I’m a glutton for punishment. Ha ! 👍🏻✌🏻
@DJsHotRodFab Жыл бұрын
The t fitting is for the 2 returns to come together. I'm a gluten for punishment as well. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

I did this but purchased a new hydro boost from OReillys Auto Parts power steering works great but my brakes are hard any thoughts on what I could have done wrong
@DJsHotRodFab Жыл бұрын
Honestly I have no idea. Maybe adjust the point where the brake pedal attacks to the master cylinder for more leverage. Mine are super easy. I would even call them touchy.

Good video, I'm doing my 68 C2500 custom 3/4 t for the same reason. I've been building it for a year now and found out I didn't have any brakes on the test drive. thank goodness for emergency brakes! So I noticed you used the original steering pump and also the updated reservoir on the fender. does the original res get filled to the top? How does that work? I'm running a GM 402 with a mystery cam ( engine was a gift) edelbrock intake and avs2 650 cfm carb pushing a 68 gm 400 tranny with a shift kit and original posi with a locker rear. Elix
@DJsHotRodFab Жыл бұрын
That power steering pump with the remote res is original to the truck. One guy told me it was rare to still have that setup. Most got swapped to the pumps with the built in reservoir.

It should work on most GM vehicles. There will be some variation in ps pumps and fittings and pedal attachment. I can't say for sure.
