Its cultural. Mecha, Tokusatsu, and the like never really caught on in the west until Power Rangers, and Toonami, which was the late 90's, and most of Gundam's jucier bits Stardust memory, Zeta, etc were the mid 80's to early 90's, in other words, the platforms for gundam to blossom in the west werent built yet.

Transformers was the reason why Gundam wasn't so popular despite it being aired earlier. Transformers was more appealing as a kids show whereas Gundam is more of like a drama series. Thats why any mecha shows would automatically compare to transformers instead of gundam. When a show that hits your childhood, its hard to get rid of it.

They never really properly invested in making the UC series watchable for people in the west. Nobody today is going to watch the 0079 series/movies because they're incredibly dated. Even by 2000, when anime was blowing up in the US, the original series had already looked reaaaallly old. It was comparable with the quality of scooby-doo episodes. Not to mention that the dialogue and interactions between characters is rough at best and sometimes really jarring. Zeta got the A New Translation, but the plot was butchered and it had the old animation sequences horribly stiched together. If they would just go ahead and remake the original 0079 series with better dialogue, a tighter plot that also flows better, and modern animation, I'm sure it'd do well.

Hmm Exia seems pretty strong but I think the beam daggers used as a range option is kinda a slap in the face when its GN Sword has a rifle built in. Throwing the daggers seems to have the same kind of lame duck delayed action as in many games where an MS throws a melee weapon. Like the Efreet Nacht in GBO 2 and they have such a small precise hitbox. I think it having access to it's beam rifle would be a more viable ranged option.

Y’all are saying Wing I on the other hand want more 00 units. Examples include Kyrios/Arios(One ability can be Transform into Jet) Dynames(Another Sniper unit) or even better: 00 Quan[T]. Some abilities it can have include Main weapon being Sword with laser alt mode while G-Maneuver is Quan[T] Burst like Exia(Buff/Different Abilities).

A thought i had was "Damn they could've made the Exia so much more original" like making the GN Gunblade an actual gunblade, using an ability slot to transform between firing a beam or swinging a sword like Barbatos has the mace. The other abilities could still be throwing the Beam Daggers, which may need to be buffed to warrant a cooldown and whatnot, though the slash dash can stay, only because i havent thought of anything. It just kinda makes me a little miffed that they turned Exia of all things into a genji clone (The Efreet Nacht was RIGHT THERE guys)

I'm late to the scene here as far as this comment is concerned, but from everything I've seen of Exia's playstyle in this game, he feels more like DPS Doomfist with using cooldowns as a form of extra mobility for rollouts as well as a means of getting kills. Kind of drives it home, too, seeing Exia dive in and out sometimes even before the enemy has any clue what's going on. That's how every top 500 DPS Doom played before they reworked him into a Tank.
