You're absolutely right. My brother-in-law purchased a Jeep Compass in Chennai on a loan. He took RTI. The parking was in the basement and there were floods last November. Not only did he get the complete money back but he also got the INTEREST portion of the instalments refunded as well. I took an RTI on my new Honda City as well. It cost me only an additional Rs. 3,000 /-, but, it's absolutely worth it. The ex-showroom price was about 14.3 lakhs, IDV for the comprehensive was about 13.6 lakhs. I paid additional amounts on road tax, insurance etc. making the on road price to be about 17.3 lakhs. Just imagine the difference! The only caveat perhaps is that certain states don't have any road tax on EVs. Hence, not sure if RTI is available for such cases at all.

I see most Fortuner owners keep their Ultrasonic motion detecting sensor button off. There is a button next to the cabin lights that once turned on- will pick up even the slightest movement inside the cabin once the car is locked and blare alarms. But I don’t know why people turn it off.

Thanks for the info. The credit assure is pretty useful but all good things come at a cost. The best thing as you say is "Buy only what you can afford". Financially sound decision is to have car loan between 1 to 3 years only. If ones budget can't fit this criteria look for a lower cost vehicle that can. For security of vehicle, a wheel lock that cops use for traffic offense vehicle is highly secure, though it may look funny to general public when the owner puts it on the wheel.

Great Gaganji -what all you shared is right -- Just to add one point which I did expernc was in part payment ---when you make part payment we think we are reducing a lot but it really does not happen , Banks reduce it from the last instalment to the first which is very painful as when I was making a big chunk of part payment I thought it will reduce the interest part but they were reducing it from the last EMI to the latest EMI -- it was painfull but decided to close the loan ASAP which I did. NO bank or the financiers sales ppl in the show room tell this. 😢 >>>> they will only say -- YES sir you can make part payments nothing will happen only Gud for you . >>>> so be aware of this

With Prepayment the principal is reduced resulting in net reduction in Interest. With foreclosure we pay and close on Principal, so even though percentile wise the Interest could be more but still it's beneficial to foreclose.
