50 Lawmakers Appeal To President Tinubu For The Release Of Nnamdi Kanu

Lawmakers under the aegis of the Concerned Federal Lawmakers for Peace and Security in the South-East, spread across the six geo-political zones of the country, have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to invoke section 174 of the 1999 constitution, as amended and section 107 (1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, to release the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, from the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS. The 50 lawmakers, elected on the platform of different political parties, believe that the Presidential gesture would engender peace in the troubled South-East region of the country.

FG is talking about dialogue and negotiation while Nnamdi Kanu and his fellow Biafrans are talking about freedom from Nigeria and referendum. So which way now? 😅🤣😁😆 Everybody need peace, everybody want peace in life, with my experience in life and in International politics. Nigerian government don't have problem with SE politicians, SE governors, SE elders rather they're having issues with IPOB which Nnamdi Kanu is the leader. Holding Nnamdi Kanu now means FG is holding IPOB as a whole and there is no way FG can have dialogue and negotiation without the IPOB leadership. I know about the Nigeria Delta Amnesty, I red about some negotiations that goes on in the northern part of Nigeria with some Islamic groups. FG didn't sit on a round table with their governors, top politicians or elders alone. Negotiating or dialoguing with whoever without the presents of the freedom fighters in SE can not work. A lot of the freedom fighters have died not the politicians nor the elders. Finally, Peace and justice are two sides of the same coin. If SE politicians want peace, let them work for justice. Special Note: If the negotiators are neutral in situations of injustice, IPOB have chosen the side of the oppressor.

The 50 lawmakers recent move is just a show to get credit. Nnmadi Kanu's Lawyer is already exercising the idea of a settlement out of court with the Federal Government. Therefore, why did the 50 lawmakers wait till this time to make the appeal to President Tinubu for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. They are not the first group to make such appeal, did they just find out section 174 of the 1999 Constitution as amended? Is this a section of the law that that Nnamdi Kanu's lawyers were not aware of all this time? In my opinion they are complicate the process of releasing Kanu as being considered by his lawyer. Going through the out of court process would be much faster than sticking up President with the requirement in the constitution that is left to his discretion imply.
