Always in Setombe's heart ... always in mine! Today in honor of his preciousness, I will rewatch the video where Phabeni was brought to Jabulani, where the arch bearing the name he was given is seen, and where the excitement of the carers - of bringing the new baby home to his new phabeni (shelter) -- jumps off the screen. It provides a tremendous POV for anyone who'd dream of sitting in the bush and observing in person the natural antics and behaviors of the Jabulani Herd (like me!). They are indeed masters of dust/mud baths, swimming, digging roots, stripping bark, and pulling leaves. Not to mention their sense of smell. They can smell marula fruit for more than a mile away. They are their own tool kit, of stripping bark from trees, using their trunks, to the tusks and their toe nails. Their tipper beak can even pick up the smallest of bark. The Ellie’s are amazing. My baby Phabeni is a year old, and he's celebrating in heaven. I can see him running and head butting someone to play! Missing him is an understatement and the love for him I can't explain because it's too much. I was seriously saving to adopt him, and feel like I lost my child when he passed. I am going to find another to adopt, but I just started following after they found baby Phabeni, and now need to put attention elsewhere because there is another that needs me to adopt. So I'm still saving for the ultimate adoption, just looking at which one. ❤🐘❤️🐘

Got to know about Phabeni's passing only yesterday as I had been travelling. It came as a huge shock and I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around this terrible piece of news. Little fella' broke so many hearts around the world. I hope the baby's soul rests in eternal peace. Please please please take care of Setombe and others in the ele family that are grieving- I cannot imagine the grief she must be going through. Please support her emotionally on our behalf. I hope she comes to terms with her little baby's absence and moves on. :-/ My heart feels heavy.

I, and several others, share your deep love and concern for poor Setombe. There've been a couple videos where she's been mentioned. I was relieved to hear that she's streaming less. I pray that she gets to cuddle with her baby in her sleep. That has been my prayer for her since the precious, darling wee baby bull passed💔💚. I've been suggesting how helpful is would be for Phabeni's elie mama to be comforted by his human mama. Care and concern should also go to poor Stavros who honorably came out of retirement (just as he promised he would if Phabeni needed help), and Adine said that the autopsy was (quite understandably) very hard for Stavros.

I hope Adine reads your comment and takes it into consideration. Agree about Stavros. I know what a beloved animal's passing feels like, especially when it happens unexpectedly and I can completely understand how Phabeni's human family must be feeling too. It is just so heartbreaking. Nevertheless, I hope everybody heals and moves on, especially Setombe. It is incredibly difficult to see elephant mothers mourn the loss of their babies.

Unfortunately, we have a very sad anniversary today, little Phabeni would have turned 1 today. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the little darling, especially, when I see a new HERD video. Thank you for posting this video it makes me feel better and feel happy that there is people that care and is saving elephants. This video made me feel better I just saw a documentary that was posted on youtube 5hours ago on how elephants in Botswana is hunted for trophies. This is so unfair . How would elephants not go extinct with hunters and poachers killing innocent animals.😢
