During the peak of her success, there was NO ONE but Marilyn. She was such an icon of Hollywood glamour, that I don't think there's a woman on earth who didn't want to be her... even today. RIP.

But when I was young, for sheer sexual magnetism and crowd appeal, Monroe had no equal. Even today they still make movies about her, and every woman wants to have her same allure. If you notice, there are hundreds of Marilyn Monroe impersonators, but I can't think of a single Taylor wannabee. Marilyn was an icon like no other. Think about it. Even the Kennedys were drawn to her, and I believe ultimately responsible for her death.

Then there's her classic turn in Stella Dallas, where she pretty much chews the scenery- without over acting! Her bio could have been made into a movie. What a life she led! I thought she aged quite well, with no apparent plastic surgery. She looked lovely in The Big Valley.

Finally, a list that recognizes just how BEAUTIFUL Ginger Rogers was... she was early, so some of the cinemtography and photography was lousy, but even with that there are STUNNING pictures of her. They aren't really considered Old Hollywood. Pre-1960 is old Hollywood. Natalie might have just barely made it but not Goldie.

What about Deborah Kerr, Pier Angeli, Natalie Wood, Lee Remick, Angie Dickinson, Ingrid Bergmann, Jennifer Jones, Maria Schell. These are more beautiful and talented than some on the list. I mean, Marilyn Monroe at #1. Not for talent, surely.
