This would necessitate the classification of modern humans as H. sapiens sapiens.[132]” [Wikipedia/Neanderthal/Classification] “Interbreeding between archaic and modern humans occurred during the Middle Paleolithic and early Upper Paleolithic. The interbreeding happened in several independent events that included Neanderthals and Denisovans, as well as several unidentified hominins.[2] Neanderthal-derived DNA has been found in the genomes of most or possibly all contemporary populations, varying noticeably by region. It accounts for 1-4% of modern genomes for people outside Sub-Saharan Africa, although estimates vary, and either none or possibly up to 0.3% - according to recent research[3] - for those in Africa. It is highest in East Asians, intermediate in Europeans, and lower in Southeast Asians.[4] According to some research, it is also lower in Melanesians and Polynesians compared to both East Asians and Europeans.[4] However, other research finds higher Neanderthal admixture in Melanesians, as well as in Native Americans, than in Europeans (though not higher than in East Asians).[5] In December 2023, scientists reported that genes inherited by modern humans from Neanderthals and Denisovans may biologically influence the daily routine of modern humans.[8]” [Wikipedia/Interbreeding between archaic and modern humans/Introduction] “just like racist Joseph Smith and his racist Mason buddies, racist Darwin was also a high-level freemason and father of the eugenics movement. Be kind and don’t make jokes at the expense of Mormons, ya’ll. You have no idea how traumatic it is to go through losing your faith and discovering the truth. It is literally like being told you’ve been plugged into the matrix this entire time. Try to imagine that for a second, like really imagine it. Look up the Second Great Awakening, American Exceptionalism in the 1800s, and Manifest Destiny. TL,DR; Mormonism supported mainstream/popular politics, philosophy, and culture of 1800s America. Mormonism's doctrinal roots and the social sphere of the United States during Smith's era are nearly inseparable; it's a very "American made" religion, in a manner of speaking. The beliefs taught by the church would have been agreeable and sensible to some of the people of that time.

Church leaders always encourage us to study the church to answer our questions, but they specifically teach that we should only look for answers through the church. Now I see why they don’t want us looking outside of the church mediums. Watching this video was a rude awakening. I’m definitely sad that everything I’ve been taught and had believed completely is false and it’s gonna take a while to let that really sink in, but I’m done with the church. YOU SAID, “The worse part is that Latter-day Saints are loving and kind.” I say what is wrong with being loving and kind? What could possibly be wrong with loving Jesus Christ and doing what he taught?…… Love your neighbor as yourself, love one another, teach one another, serve one another, forgive one another, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, etc? “We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.”(Articles of Faith No. 13). YOU ALSO SAID, “The leaders abuse our good nature and kindness.” (Are you claiming to be a member in good standing?) In what way do the leaders abuse our good nature and kindness? We gladly pay tithing because it is God’s way of blessing his children and advancing the mission of his church to preach the restored gospel, to perfect the saints, and to build temples for sacred ordinances. We also love following the teachings of our living prophet and the Apostles for they conform with the teachings of Jesus Christ. YOU SAID, “It’s hard to question anything.” Our local bishops and stake presidents are well informed as to church administration and doctrines; members can ask them any questions anytime. (The local leaders and all the tens of thousands of workers in the global church serve freely without compensation. The same is true for 53,000 full-time missionaries serving in 160 countries and territories around the globe.) YOU SAID, “When you’ve invested your whole life to a lie, sometimes it’s easier to pretend it’s the truth.” I have invested 46 years of my life with my wife and children in the church. We were greatly blessed by living the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We know it to be true. There are answers to all the purported evidences and accusations against the Church. It has always been the war between good and evil. We know where we stand. Whose side are on? We know “there must be an opposition in all things”(2Nephi 2:11). We also know that “we must be tried in all things” that we may be prepared to receive the glory that the Lord has prepared for us” (D&C 136:31). There is no pretending for us - we know the church is true. Anything which inviteth to do good is of God and anything which inviteth to do evil is of the devil. YOU SAID that the members of our church are loving and kind. That we are! We are staying put in our church. How about you? What have you got?

I’m a Mormon currently and I don’t think my parents will accept me for who I am. My friend group is LDS and very open minded (except for a few) I love the way this church has accepted me, but they won’t if they know the real me. They have been my comfort but I can’t see myself staying in the church because there is just so much wrong with it. Right now I go to seminary daily and go to church every week, but when I move out I think I’m going to leave. I’ve tried to ask for help when my faith in god was low, but they just told me to “pray about it” how am I supposed to do that when I don’t think anyones listening? Thank you for making this video. I hope that I’ll get past this time In my life.

No matter what happens, just remember that it will get better. Your parents will come around, and your relationship with them will heal after they get through the grieving process. It will all be worth it when you can live your life authentically and fully with no pretense, and be loved for your authentic self. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need help. You've got this.

A big problem with mormons is that it's quite difficult to leave the religion, especially if all your life revolves around it. If you're old enough you should tell your parents what you really feel about it and you have to be persistent with it because they'll surely try to convince you otherwise.

I grew up Mormon. I am not naive, and I know that it is very problematic in a LOT of ways. There is definitely a lot of sexism, unanswered questions, and shameful tactics. But people need to realize that 95% of Mormons are just people living their life and not bothering anyone. You may disagree with their teachings, and I don’t blame you, and you may be asking yourself why a lot of them stay in the church. But it’s hard for members to just abandon their way of living after so many years. A lot of them have put so much emotional and spiritual energy into it. So please, don’t sit here and judge every single Mormon person just because of a video you watched. It’s so easy to judge on the outside looking in. Let people be happy. Your neighbor being Mormon isn’t effecting your life. And if it is, I think the problem isn’t them, it’s you. Just like if your neighbor was gay, Muslim, republican, trans, etc.

The purpose of this video is to promote skepticism, examination, introspection, and ideally a shift in belief. As a former Mormon, these topics are all things I wish I had known before giving 25 years to a system that I now know to be false. I have many friends and family members who remain in the church, and have nothing but love for them, and hope they are happy. But I feel a duty to speak the truth, even when the truth is hard to hear.

@Tatum, Mormonism steals from members by misrepresenting what a tithe is supposed to be, then spends the money on corporate interests instead of charity. Mormonism promoted both racism and sedition against the US government as holy doctrine. Worst of all, Mormonism distorts, mutilates and misrepresents the life of Christ, and introduces non-biblical concepts like spirit marriage. Mormonism is not harmless, and neither are its followers.

The reason that the confusion stops is because once you have given up on Exaltation the Adversary has accomplished his goal and he has won. As we work through the confusion and as we demonstrate our faith and conviction the Adversary backs off but he will keep on trying. Pressing forward will always meet resistance. It’s not easy but it’s definitely worth it. Being loyal to our testimony is a constant challenge because of the pressures of opposition. That is the sure indication that you’re on the right path. @@danh-RedSwan Hi Dan. We appreciate your concern. We really do. So thank you for commenting. We have lived the gospel for over 70 years. Please know we lived the gospel during a time that the new narrative embraced by the church today was firmly called "anti Mormon lies". We taught our children that these topics were lies. Many years ago as a Bishop I was approached by several ward members over the 5 years I served who had concerns over this information they found through research long before the internet. I was counseled by my stake president as a bishop and then reaffirmed to the ward members that this information was lies. Now after all this time the church says this information is in fact truth? I am sorry but the church has not been honest with us as members. We have been taken advantage of and manipulated. Those of us who were missionaries, parents, grandparents, served in leadership positions, or even taught the youth or gospel doctrine, pushed this false narrative onto others as we were taught and instructed to do. Please do not accept what the church has claimed previously as truth, or what they now teach today as truth for that matter (It cant both be true, right?). Be critical of claims that are extraordinary and defy logic. Research these claims through all sources. Look at the original source material whenever possible (there is lots of it). Double check the sources being used in anyone claims. Research what prophets have taught us over the whole history of the church from the restoration up to today. Is there consistency? Look at the evolution of the theology and truth claims from pre-1830 until 2020. Only once you have genuinely put in the time to fully research from sources that have not been sanitized can you pass judgement on who is telling the truth. Best of luck in your research. So it is in regard to the inhabitants of the sun. Do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No question of it; it was not made in vain. Another reason I find quite interesting is Joseph Smith's first Wife Emma and his son Joseph Smith III didn't follow the mainstream sect of Mormons.Instead they formed their own sect of Mormonism that is still in practice today. It is because Emma had had enough sacrifice in her life. She didn’t care for Brigham and just wanted to be left alone. About her starting her own church is wrong. Some of those who didn’t like Brigham young either went to Emma when her son was twelve years old. They believed that the leadership of the church should have been passed down from father to son. Emma wanted nothing to do with it. She told them that when her son turned 18 they could come back and talk with him. They did come back and young Joseph said no. But when he had turned 27 he told them that he would be their leader. Emma joined on condition that they teach joseph her husband never practiced polygamy. It was all Brigham young’s doing.

Oh my gosh. Some of this I already knew about, but a lot of it is new information to me. I was raised Mormon, but stopped going to church when I was probably 5 or 6 because they played some game with all us kids where they lined us up in the hallway and had us blindfolded. I don't remember what the point of the game was, but I remember being terrified by the blindfold and I was apparently scared enough that my mom didn't force me to go back until I was ready. I think I went back one after I got baptized when I was 8, but I was suuuuper shy at the time. They brought me up in front of everyone to re-introduce me (they didn't need to since I went to school with all the kids that were there anyway) and being put on the spot to introduce myself in front of everyone terrified me again and I bribed my mom afterwards, telling her I would rather do chores every Sunday than go back to church. She didn't force me to go back, though now she says she wishes she did. I have to remind her that if she had forced me, I would have probably just grown to hate her and hate church even more. But I still believed until I was around 10 years old, when it just felt like there wasn't anybody listening when I prayed every night, like I was just praying to thin air. I didn't know ANY of the contradictions within the religion until later when I was in high school and heard about the more in depth beliefs from my Mormon peers. It was fascinating talking to them about it, but it all seemed so ridiculous to me. I am so happy my mom never forced me to go back to church.

I once met two young elders here in Switzerland, both were from Utah, they were distributing Book of Mormon on the street and we ended up talking. They were very polite, so I asked about their leadership and one of them explained that there is always a living, direct connection to God through a prophet, and that once a year, every year, the prophet (i.e. the current leader of the church) and some other men close themselves in and receive a direct, secret guidance and new rules from God, which they then present to the community later. I cannot remember the exact details as it was some 5 years ago, but I clearly recall my astonishment when I asked in what way that guidance is received, and they looked at each other, shrugged and said that the prophet talks to God directly and God talks back, and that he wasn't sure but that the prophet actually maybe even sees God in person... Interestingly enough, they were not very curious or intrigued by that, it was just a matter-of-fact detail that the prophet has a pre-scheduled annual conversation directly with God himself in a secret chamber, and that it was only mildly interesting to them to know the details... They kept trying to convert me for a couple of years, then finally gave up.

Years ago I was visiting Rome. After hours of sightseeing on a very hot day, I found a shady bench in a park and sat down to eat my lunch. Down the path came two young Mormons with dejected looks on their faces and I couldn't contain my laughter as they passed in front of me. "What's so funny?" one of them asked. I said, "You guys really got a shitty assignment. I'm guessing you're not having much luck here." My answer seemed to disarm them completely and they quickly sat down and joined me in the shade. One said something like, "Oh man, you have no idea." I laughed again. I offered to share my food and invited them to rest for a while. We sat and talked for about 20 minutes and religion never even came up aside from them confessing how they were completely striking out. I think they were just happy to talk to a sympathetic anglophone and get out of the heat. After a pleasant chat, we just went our separate ways. There's a fair bit of hostility in these comments from both sides. In my opinion, what we humans fear the most is uncertainty. As a result, our need to be "right" takes on almost pathological proportions. From that place, it is not surprising that people will convince themselves of the most preposterous things. At the base of every belief system is the unspoken, but inescapable, notion, "I'm right and you're wrong." The arrogance and hubris of this would make me laugh just like I did at those poor chaps in Rome, if it wasn't also the cause of so much human suffering. When it comes to the big questions in life: We all like to think we're right... we're not. We all want to believe we know the truth... we don't. For some reason, people would more likely force, shun, disown, and even kill, rather than admit this simple fact to themselves. All in the name of "love" and "wanting what's best for them," of course. Be well, and be kind...

I recently had a Mormon try to argue with me that marriage is eternal because of the keys "bind on earth, bind in heaven and loose on earth, loose in heaven". Don't they even apply logic to anything? If those women were already married and it was bound in heaven, then they obviously couldn't be eternally married to Joseph Smith. Since it was their husbands who bound them, then only their husbands could loose them....logically, then Smith could in no way bind or loose them. They are just like people of any other cult, they oppose logic because logic destroys their belief system. And that's fairly damaging to the ego and people can be hurt psychologically. I am sad for them when they get that light in their eyes when they realize the truth but then lose it because of their fear of being wrong.

If you are concerned that your parents might retaliate, make sure you are financially independent, have your own bank account, and ideally your own place before telling your parents anything. Oh man! It’s so hard. As a minor most of us lived with our parents & had to respect their rules. You’ll be an adult before you know it. I was in your shoes 30 years ago, pre-internet. Use the information you now have at your fingertips to your benefit. It’s a convenient tool to help you navigate relationships & explain things more succinctly by sharing a video like this one rather than trying to explain yourself. Have patience with your LDS family. We can’t expect them to shed a lifetime of indoctrination overnight. They’ll likely get defensive & upset initially. The most powerful thing we can do as former-Mormons is to be a good example & show our religious friends & loved ones that being a good person has nothing to do with religion. Common sense is inherent. We can trust ourselves to know right from wrong without an imaginary ghost, or 10% of our income. Best of luck! You’re not alone. There are a lot of resources if you want support.

So I’m struggling with my faith, I feel like I should believe in Mormonism, and that it’s totally true but I’ve been doing some research and there’s a LOT more opposition than idk what the word is for that but there’s just more people saying it’s not true than are saying it is true. So I’ve been watching some videos and searching things such as: proof that Mormonism is real, and proof that Mormonism is fake, but I have no clue what I should do. I’m not going to quit yet I want to think it all the way through. And then decide, but there are going to be sever consequences in my family if I decide to leave, I know without a doubt I’m going to be shunned, and people are going to judge me, and my friends will stop talking to me, and maybe even some girls won’t date me just because I’m not mormon. I really just want to get to heaven, and I don’t know how to get there, maybe someone can help me? I believe in god, and I guess I should look through the Bible a bit to decide on if works will save me or just grace, I mean if religions worked based on what sounds appealing, then I’d be satisfied but sadly that’s not the case, I want to know the true doctrine and principles of Jesus Christ’s plan for me. If that means to continue to be mormon then that’s what I’ll do, can anyone help me? I’m not exactly ready to tell my family I’m not mormon and I’m also not ready to deny everything I’ve been taught. If I could have one wish, i wish i wasn’t born into a Mormon family so I could decide for my self. I also know that if I try to leave people are going to try to convince me to stay, and I don’t really want to hear it. I’m really close with all of my family and I really hope they don’t hate me if I leave. Maybe a firsthand spiritual experience? If I had one question to ask god, it’d be, “ which church is true?” Or something in that area, again I’m looking for people who can help me decide. Thank you

Im in the same boat. I go through stages where I wouldn't consider myself mormon and then I hear someone give a talk or something that makes me think that maybe I shouldn't listen to everything I hear online and maybe mormons are right. Ive been praying about it for so long and I have no idea what to do now. In the end you are the only one who can decide for yourself. Just try to listen to both sides and ,if possible, go online and try to find some ex mormons and some mormons who have really questioned there faith but continue to be mormon and I believe that you will find the truth. Sorry if that advice isn't very good because I am probably just as confused as you are.

Jack, you are doing right to face these facts that expose the deception of Mormonism. Have the courage to do that, and know that God loves you and sent his Son to save you. He wants you to know him. Jack, wow. I feel you. I grew up in Salt Lake, grew up mormon. Decided it wasn't for me, which caused many in my life to decide that I wasn't for them. CORRECTION: I decided that it wasn't for me which caused many in my life to have it decided FOR them that I wasn't for them. Meaning that they were all still my "friends" if no others were around. But if other "friends" were around then I was invisible or greatly shunned. I call this act one part of "mormoning". When you get 2 or more mormons together, they try very hard to "out=mormon" one another. Be true to yourself first and foremost. If your gut is telling you something's not quite right, don't dismiss it. Good luck to you.

If I did deny them I would be in the judgement of God. I don’t expect you or anyone to believe me. I have spent nearly forty years in research of church history. I will tell you this that anyone and that is on both sides only writes their perception. You have to sift through all of it to even get a closer look at what may have really happened. Critics of the church have only one agenda. That is destroy a persons faith. If they can place doubts in that persons mind that is half the battle. I have found answers to every claim presented by critics. But many people don’t want to spend the time. The restoration took place and there are living prophets today. I have had to many confirmations to say other wise. It’s up to each individual to search for the truth. Now why someone would search for truth from those who are committed to destroy it is beyond me. If I wanted to find out about the real you would I go to someone that hated your guts? How much truth would be in what they told me. Not much.

I stopped believing in the church last year when I was only fourteen, the suppression and controlling mindset of the church became so hard to handle, constantly being told I was a lesser gender because I'm a woman and that my only purpose in life is to serve my husband and birth children felt terrible, I felt guilty for wanting a career, wanting to have a real relationship instead of getting married two months after I meet someone, or not wanting to ever have children, all this guilt and constant repression made me eventually resort in self harm and attempted suicide. This was the same deal with my close friends and it ruined us. Having to feel that kind of guilt and self hate at such a young age changed us forever. This was all simply because we were told that is being normal people following human nature was a sin. For most including myself, you will be rejected by your family and friends if you leave the church, you will have to create a whole new life for yourself and learn how to live. I'm very happy that I could come to this conclusion at such a young age but some people aren't as lucky, I think it's important to state these facts and create more awareness to toxic religion so that we as a society can grow. I'm not saying having religion Is bad, for some people it makes them very happy but personally I find it terrible. For now, like many others out there, I'm just waiting till I'm 18 so that I can finally escape this toxic work I live in. Sorry for making you read a whole essay and thank you🙂

The more you learn about it, the more preposterous it gets. Finally , the thing i find the most reprehensible is the baptism for the dead. You cant even escape them when you die.

@@knittingnana2939 pressured?? Im kinda curious cuz you said everything it's about money, sex and power.. who told you that? I'm not here to judge cuz that's not what we do.

@@melg.8298 look, i grew up with Mormons , 75% of my school was mormon and i had missionaries at my door constantly and for a time in my life, i seriously considered it, i was invited to church, told to watch conference on tv, etc. And the more i looked into it, the more preposterous it became. No pressure ? Really? You guys believe what you want to believe, and the church dictates everything.

@@knittingnana2939 We are not mormons. We are Christians too and we dont believe in what we want to believe. We believe in God, his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost so I hope you are not judging us wrongly based on the information you have gathered. We all have free agency and if something misled you, and I totally get you b/c I'm a convert. I worked my way through it too. And im happy where am at;) if you made that decision, it's okay, not here to judge cuz we all r children of God anyways. He is the only one who judges.
