A lot of these are repeats if you’ve seen my prior videos, but this is an updated “all-in-one” version with some new ones thrown in. Hope you all find these useful! And here’s a bonus tip for PS Plus upgrades: if you stack multiple years of Essential, then there’s a $100 cap on the upgrade price to Extra/Premium. Basically, you’d have to pre-purchase 3-4 years of Essential to hit the upgrade cap, but at that point the more you buy, the “cheaper” your Extra/Premium membership will be, since you’re locking in savings by only paying an additional $100 to convert all that time to a higher tier. This works as recently as December 2022.

I wish that stupid ad riddled "Explore" tab can go away. It's useless to me and aggravating. I miss the PS3 XMB. Also what's up with the PS4 store not always not showing new to old by default like the PS5 store does. They keep showing on top a lot of the old games I already have. Another thing I wish they would do is make the wish list way bigger. I keep getting messages to delete something off of it if I want to add something else. Ridiculous. It would be nice too if you could gift games to people like you can on Stream. Sometimes it would be nice to help a friend or family member get a game they want without sending them a gift card.

I think there are 3 very easy improvements that Sony needs to make. 1. Bring back a proper Web browser. 2. Improve the video playback - Remember how far into a video you watched 3. PS Store - Give developers their own page. Recommend similar games on each game page. Comments would be great but also improve search so we can look for local co op etc

For tip #20 at 6:35 always connect external HDD/SSD to the back usb ports if you're playing games off it. The front port is a USB 2.0 so it is only good for charging your controller/headset or watching movies. The back ports are superspeed USB 3.2 Gen 2.

I connected it to the front once and it didn't even let me use the HDD at all, it forced me to switch it to the back ones. Is this any different on older PS5 models?

I'm finding that myself, and a lot of others can't even charge their controllers through the front of the console. Can't even charge them in the back of the console. Only thing that works is plugging them into a several-usb-charging station

For tip #6 1:11 Instead of holding the ps button down for 10 seconds, go to control center and move the “accessories” icon all the way to the left. That way you can turn your controller off way faster instead of having to wait 10 seconds. Also recommend in settings to put the controller to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity!

Also if your watching TV app or something in KZbin or something and you want to turn off the controller, you can't do it through the UI, because the UI menu will stay on screen. The way to do this is, press and HOLD the ps button, the UI will pop up because of the press.. but since your in KZbin or whatever, that will be last app on screen, so just click X button to go back to the app, all will still HOLDING the ps button. You will be back on the previous app, and controller off with no UI on screen.

Some of these were really useful! As primarily an Xbox user I keep trying to use Xbox shortcuts / inputs because they just naturally make sense to me so every action has taken me 2 to 3 times longer than it should on PS5 haha. It still feels more intuitive than the PS5 UI to me but that could be based on a bias of using one a lot longer than the other, this'll help keep me in check a little.

Didn't know about #14... Good to have that base covered, in case they ever do pull any of those games down from the eternal PS+ collection. Which I suspect they might, since it overlaps so much with PS+ Extra, and costs nothing extra. really in-depth and useful! I really hope that in the future they let us customize where to hear Multiplayer chat audio. I've found that it always comes out of the controller speaker -- even retroactively on PS4 games which is pretty cool -- but I just think it's really strange/annoying! Can't seem to find a workaround for this either...

(10:29) I think the Web browser was hidden for security reasons as I remember seeing videos of people using the PS4 and Vita web browsers to run exploits. However, Web views being openable from messages suggest to me that it could still be used for stuff like game wikis and videos.

It's a little odd that you can only pin 5 games to the home screen. I'd rather have at least 10 spots so I can see many more of my game tiles (most of them are casual games) in one place upon boot up rather than going through folders. Anyways, appreciate these tips. Some of the settings I found by accident and couldn't remember how to get back again, thanks!

A good tip is to re use your PS4 HDD via a SATA to USB adapter given the nature of the PS5 being able to run like all PS4 games this is a very desirable solution towards wanted additional storage. I had a 2TB HDD for my PS4 but I use it now for my PS5

I had a 1tb ssd inside my ps4 pro, sold that when I got the ps5 and put the hdd before selling back into the ps4, saved money getting a good 2.5 inch hard drive enclosure off Amazon for $8

For me it's much faster to download the whole game again instead of transferring the games to my external HDD. Some tips are really useful and I already had discovered some by chance (like the ∆ to go to the search icon or long press to mute everything) . Great video! 👍

Yea with updates too, the copy takes an hour, if I re-download the entire game takes less time.

FINALLY! a playtime tracker. I understand there's a third party app for one, but Sony finally implementing this the first time in their history is huge. Nintendo has been doing this since the original Wii so it's about time!

I already knew like 90% of these, but by far the most helpful one I didn't know is the one where you can mute all the PS5's audio by holding down the mute mic button on the controller. My TV has a permanent watermark of the no sound logo, when you turn down the volume to zero, which is very distracting. So I have to have my TV set to the lowest volume it can go, without muting it. The problem is, even the lowest volume is still audible and can even be quite loud depending on the game. So this tip is super helpful for me.

You can do other things while you're downloading a game though. File transfers have to stay on the screen the whole time.

6:35 Don't think it's a good idea to attach your external drive to that USB port for your PS4 games. It's the one port that is not SuperSpeed and will be quite slow for loading PS4 games. Not to mention that you probably want your drive with PS4 games attached at all times and thus out of the way, making one of the back ports much better suited.

I am *scared* to turn by PS5 back on because of it. My PS5 has suffered seven instances of not being turned off properly and I think I'll have to buy a replacement PS5. For Tip 12. If you have a Monitor with 1920 x 1080p Resolution you don’t need a 2.1 cable. So if you don’t have a Monitor with a HDMI 2.1, don’t worry, it will work with the HDMI 2.0 :)
