I don't understand why some people are invalidating some of the food options. They're just sharing their experience as a Singaporean. You might not relate to it but it doesn't mean what they shared are invalid. 💀 Chill lah happy national day yall Ps: yes Hafeez i appreciate the Chong Pang shoutout!

Btw for anyone wondering why the drink is named 'Michael Jackson', it's probably based on the song, 'Black or White', because it has grass jelly (black) and soya bean milk (white)!
@damontan47492 жыл бұрын
Lol I think It’s not because of his song but the person himself, he is a black guy who had vitiligo and then decided to bleach or cover the darker portion of his skin with makeup which makes him appear white

Hi @Eatbook. Wonderful capturing of the types of food that represent Singapore in general. FYI. The ending there is a spelling mistake. The mistake is as such: Happy Natoinal Day, It should be National. Unless it is a deliberate mistake. Cheers. Wishing all a Happy National Day

I tend to avoid the Peanut Butter Waffles. Cause they usually don't give it time to rest and spread the peanut butter onto the hot waffles. What you get is a wasteful, messy waffle.

is fish and chips considered local Singaporean food?
@damontan47492 жыл бұрын
Considering eurasians are part of the 4 main races, it is considered. If not all the nasi lemak and kuehs are not counted too, since they originate from Malaysia or Indonesia
@jiehui28942 жыл бұрын
actually our western stall fish and chips is so far from the original it can be considered local

@@damontan4749 why are u so sure they originate in malaysia or Indonesia? most Chinese food,eg the teo chew kuehs... originated in china
@damontan47492 жыл бұрын
@@kaiserlow652 exactly that’s my point, our forefathers are all immigrants so the recipe and food they brought over originate from their respective countries. Nasi lemak and kueh originate from Malay communities in the Malay peninsula which is where we are situated at, so the other 2 countries where the Malay community have been established much longer are Malaysia and Indonesia and they are where the forefathers of our Malay community in SG come from. Hence the deduction lol. I think Brunei can be included also, if my history serve me well, the biggest authority in the Malay peninsula back in the olden days is the sultan of Brunei. Oh and by kueh I am mean nyonya kueh those kind not the Chinese kuehs, I think that’s where the confusion lies 😄
