Thanks for the video. I love Underrealm Dreams/Peer into the Abyss but I have been struggling to brew it effectively. I was more keen on using cultivate for ramp, assassins trophy for removal along with murderous rider and then extinction event/ritual of soot. But this may turn out better.

I've come around on Deathless Knight in the post-rotation builds. The deck actually has a lot of incidental lifegain and its sweet with Nyx Lotus and Gray Merchant.

A couple of days late, but I have thoughts on Wishclaw Talisman: I've played it in controlling decks where I often grab a counterspell for whatever they grab. But beside that, I've noticed that most opponents are afraid to activate it and give it back to you, so sometimes it can be worth taking a risk with it. I think it's an underplayed card, it's just really powerful and the down side often doesn't come up because your opponent is so afraid to activate it, so as long as you have appropriate answers for what your opponent is doing it can be worth playing. However, I will say that if your opponent is playing a combo deck, well... let's just say that I think you were right to take it out against Winota.

37:00 Seth, sometimes Arena freezes on computers and forces you to keep hands. It happened to me a couple of times when I tried to play Jumpstart... But who really knows tbh

I've actually had games where the Arena client decided my hand must be good enough for a keep and gave me no agency in the matter. I was so confused the first time it happened and my opponent made a land drop when I thought I was waiting on them to decide on their keep/mull before I could decide.

I'm thinking having a drop down menu off the side of the play board with 3 options to sort the player's hand: Order of last drawn/added to hand (the way it is now) Alphabetical order by card name Order from lowest CMC to highest obviously this setting should not surface on the opponent's client as that could give more info about your hand than they are supposed to have.

I grinded my way to mythic with a version of this deck I built about a week after m21 came out on arena. Not a devotion list, much closer to mono black control, but the big thing is that most decks in BO1 can't deal with enchantments short of casting ugin, and control decks were not very popular in BO1 for obvious reasons

I think it depends on what viable means. I think it could show up in a deck and be decent, but there are just so many powerful threats these days I think it will be beat out by other options in top tier strategies.

I feel like ayara is just not great in this deck. Especially in the non budget version I think the 4th deathless knight might be better. Also not sure I like the talisman all that much. I'm just not sure what to replace them with. Might need to try a few different things. Almost want another cheap removal for the talisman. Really unsure on ayara though.

I have played against this deck with Temur clover I. The standard 2021 playlist and it is pretty good. Unless you draw your brazen borrowers you are in trouble. My opponent used a slightly different deck list though.

Underworld dreams was one of my 2 favourite cards (along with Nightmare) when I was playing in 2006. Not a very good player, my deck was a 9ed mono black starter deck

it's funny because I did the exact opposite swap. I feel like 4 deathless knight is really good. I also swapped out ayara and talisman for a land and a 3rd tymaret. I'm not sure I would go down a land since I was forced to go up one. I feel like ayara and talisman are 2 of the weaker cards md though.

It's just not good enough. Doesn't add devotion, doesn't impact the board in any meaningful way. The fact that it costs zero doesn't much matter, it doesn't do enough to warrant the slot it takes up.

Yeah. In theory Elspeth's Nightmare is our graveyard hate, but I'm not sure its fast enough to help against Uro consistently. Might be worth going another direction.

If looking for something other than those you could do cling to dust, honestly I was considering maindecking a couple to make use of the graveyard a little if we end up going card for card vs sultai. Other options would include tormods crypt or soul guide lantern.

Don't agree with any of you. Peer is pretty expensive, so you really want to use only one Mana the turn you go off. Also since it is used to win the turn it is used, the downside doesn't kick in. Also it doesn't lose life. I think it is significantly better than Grim Tutor in this deck.

I'm actually not sure which is better. For this build I didn't think about it too hard since Grim Tutor is a mythic and a lot more expensive. Without any budget concerns I could see Grim Tutor being better just because you can cast it whenever you want, while with Wishclaw you really need to wait until you are about to win (although the black mana symbol from Wishclaw is a nice bonus).

No, because nothing synergizes with mill in this deck except maybe Peer into the Abyss so mill would be way to slow. The bigger problem is adding another color ruins the devotion gameplan.

Winota is still around, but Agent of Treachery was banned to power it down, so now it's more of an aggro deck that plays Winota for value rather than a combo deck looking to grab Agent of Treachery on turn four. She was banned outright in Historic though.

I've been experimenting with this deck for about 2 weeks on arena, and I can safely say it doesn't work in the new meta.Gary is too board-state dependent for a meta that targets your noncreature permanents too easily. Adventures completely hoses this deck. There's no way to deal with lucky clover into petty theft. Loses to blink for similar reasons, since ECD hits everything of combo value in the deck. Don't get me started on shrines.

Seth: Uro is a broken card and should be banned. Also Seth: *Exiles Cultivate, instead of Uro with his Agonizing Remorse" I know Seth had more answers in hand, but there are more Uros in the opponents library (most likely 3). Also, if the opponent has enough mana, he can sacrifice and re-cast before you have a priority window to exile Uro from the graveyard. The upside of exiling Cultivate just seem soo low...
