#50 Very satisfying changes! Installing Fermacell ceilings and hemp insulation

We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls 😊 The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.

Great video and progress again guys. My advice this time would be that you go and get yourselves a dust extractor (fancy word for vacuum). One that attaches to your circ saw and automatically switches on when you do cuts. It reduces the dust blown around by more then 90%.

J'ai découvert votre chaine il y quelques semaines avec l'épisode 46 et viens de finir de tout rattraper. Un vrai régal de vous suivre! Il y a beaucoup de chaine de rénovation en France, mais peu qui traitent de la restoration du bâti ancien comme vous le faite. Ayant un projet similaire dans la campagne du nord de la France dans une petite maison paysanne en pierres calcaires, je suis donc ravie de voir des techniques de mises en oeuvre qui n'impliquent pas de ciment/laine de verre/rails et placo! Un grand bravo pour tout le travail accompli, et un grand merci de partager tout cela en video avec nous. En plus de ça, je trouve ça chouette de vous entendre parler vos langues respectives, espagnol entre vous, ou encore anglais quand vous répondiez aux questions des abonnés. D'autant plus que cela se reflète dans les commentaires, quand on voit la diversité des langues employées et des pays d'où écrivent les personnes :)

Love the progress, looking fantastic. Glad someone gave you the tip for the support, you can make a long T with a 4x2 piece of framing timber to help brace from the floor if working alone or needing additional support in the middle, the quick clamps Vince uses are a necessity on a job site when building, we needed to use some just yesterday to add some bracing in our shed to act as storage for conduit. Thanks for sharing 🇦🇺

Hi M,V + C REALLY smart clamp work! Did you think about inserting the cables into the hoses now? If something gets stuck in the ceiling you won' t have to remove the osb panels... All the best!

Sorry to tell you this but it would have been better to drop the panels in from above. Less effort and no screw marks. Just use the router to give a lip on the top of the beams. Next time perhaps?

Just curious. Do you need permits on jobs like this? We have planning departments that need to sign off on all the inspections they need to approve to make sure everything is up to code? Sometimes the permits are outrageously expensive to approve doing the work alone.

Yes absolutely you need studies and permits! Structural interventions can't be done without professionals, and electricity and plumbing need to be inspected and certified by professionals too.

attenzione nel mezzanino o soppalco a chiudere la zona più bassa per creare un armadio o ripostiglio perchè sarà una zona con temperature più basse (si comporterà come un ulteriore isolamento interno) e a rischio di invisibili condense superficiali che portano alla comparsa di muffa (magari la calce canapa resiste alla muffa ma non il contenuto dell'armadio ;) ) attention dans la mezzanine ou la mezzanine à obturer la zone la plus basse pour créer une penderie ou un placard car ce sera une zone avec des températures plus basses (cela fera office d'isolation interne supplémentaire) et au risque de condensation superficielle invisible qui entraîne l'apparition de moisissure (peut-être que la chaux de chanvre résiste à la moisissure mais pas le contenu de l'armoire ;) )

​@@ateliermavi maledette condense! il problema è come quello di una parete con l'armadio davanti: l'armadio isola e la parete si abbassa di temperatura! il ripostiglio dovrebbe almeno restare aperto e godere della temperatura ambiente (se è accettabile). poi, se non ricordo male, lì abbiamo anche il cordolo in cemento del tetto dove l'isolamento interno era anche scarso... ​ maudite condensation ! le problème est comme celui d'un mur avec l'armoire devant : l'armoire isole et le mur baisse de température ! le placard doit au moins être laissé ouvert et profiter de la température ambiante (si cela est acceptable). puis, si je me souviens bien, là aussi on a la costière en béton du toit où l'isolation intérieure était aussi mauvaise...

​@@ateliermavi ho pensato che userei come fondo, come schiena del ripostiglio, un ulteriore blocco in calcecanapa intonacato e poi il ripostiglio armadio avrà solo la struttura e le porticine. J'ai pensé que j'utiliserais un autre bloc de chaux-chanvre plâtré comme base, comme fond de placard, et alors le placard-penderie n'aura que la structure et les petites portes.
