Lots of rice, and then whatever meat was on sale, grow your own veggies, and then supplement with buying them from a store. Peanut butter, home made bread, butter. I got flour and honey for free from our farm. Ground the wheat with grandma's mill. Made many loaves per day in a bread machine for 4 guys in a house during college. We wore out that bread machine. It was whole hard red spring wheat blended with white flour from Canada, had to be Canadian white flour back then. We have better flour available here now. One of the roommates was Canadian. This brought back memories. Kept my attention the whole time.

50 bucks is half of 100. When you use any number of dollars from your $50 budget, you can just multiply whatever you spent by 2 to find out what percentage of your budget you've used up. This is because 2x50 equals 100, and therefore your spendings times two equal whatever part of 100 they are. You can use this trick to easily calculate percentages from numbers like 10, 20, 25, 50 as well. If you have a budget of $25, you can just multiply by your spendings by 4 to find out what part of your budget you've used up. Example: Your budget is $20. You spend $3.20. What percentage of your budget have you used? Answer: 20 fits in 100 5 times, so we can simply multiply $3.20 by 5 to figure out what part of 100 it is. You can count 5x3=15, and then 5x0.2=1, and add these together to find out the result of 16%.

I wait for sales and buy meat in bulk. I just bought 6 kg of chicken breasts for 30€. It was buy one, get one free. Lidl and Aldi sell cheap protein bars and high protein desserts. Skyr is like 50 grams of protein per container and chercher container is like 1.50€. Throw some jam and granola on top and you have a solid breakfast. Egg whites are also cheap when bought in bulk. My go-to bulking meal is chili with beans made entirely from scratch. Dry beans are cheap af and give a ton of flavor and body to the chili. 2 kg of ground beef, half a kilo of dried beans, and you got yourself a meal for a couple of days.
