GF actually stands for gold filled, not gold frame.

The GF does NOT stand for Gold frame as you have stated. It stands for Gold Filled. Big Difference.

Before I married my wife, there were 2 of these sunglasses at her grandmother's house. in the 70's It was given to him and his wife as a gift because his grandfather was the American general's NATO chauffeur in Izmir Turkey. The funniest part is that no one knew how precious glasses were until I realized it. I only reported the situation to my wife and I will keep it in the safe in the bank for our future children.

A very cool pair. I wonder why they just didn't make them out of titanium back then? I mean its corrosion resistance is excellent and it had to be cheaper than gold. Probably, no technology.
@shadereviewstore18492 жыл бұрын
To be honest the eyewear industry was not capable of making titanium frames back then. In fact the first titanium parapson glasses ever I believe we’re built by Porsche design in the 1990s So Gold the cheapest metal they could’ve used to fulfill the military contract!
@ShadeReview2 жыл бұрын
Titanium is so hard to work with even to this day RE and AO don’t use it in there frames From what people in the industry have told me they would have to charge around $500-600 to make them in titanium in USA

1/10 12k gf (gold filled) means that the frames are 10% of 12k gold. Generally meaning a very thick plating of gold as compared to something cheaply electroplated once. So like a nice Cross pen, the gold won't rub off for a very long time. it means that is a high quality plating. Still, very nice glasses

I have this exact pair, but without the box. Mine aren't in perfect condition as they were dug up out of the ground of my back yard. The plastic around the arm bands is in bad condition, but nothing unwearable. The lenses only have minor wear scratches on them .... If anyone is interested in buying them they could be for sale at for right price. WAY WAY less than the $2500...more are the $1000.00 range.

Solid gold, lmao no. No no no no... You think the military would issue solid gold to anyone? 12K GF, "gold filled". I guess some suckers will buy a "solid gold filled" necklace though...
@caseywatson8876 Жыл бұрын
Please get your facts straight about the material this frames were made out of. They came in 1/10th-10kgf and just 12kgf which is normally 1-20th-12kgf . These were never made out of solid 12kt gold. Implying your an authority on these glass is just wrong when producing a video with totally wrong and misleading information. Very nice and rare glasses that are worth around 800-1000$ BUT NOT SOLID GOLD ! VERY MISLEADING VIDEO !

12 kart solid gold ! Wrong. If it says 1/10th -12kgf means 10% is 12kg. Which is the most gild content in this model and most sought after. If it says 12kgf as this pair is. Normally 12kgf is 1/20th-12kg or 5 percent 12kgf. Or only 2.5 percent solid gold. Do your homework before asking a video that is total full of misleading information. These are worth about 800-1000.00$ I have had about a dozen pair. Again the ones that have 1/10th-12kgf are the most desirable and 12kgf as these are second most desirable.
