I'm very excited for tomorrow's episode, it looks like it will be a lot of fun and I have wanted the Sea Devils to return for YEARS so I am ecstatic! Chibnall is an absolute legend!

7:15 The Silurians came back in the Steven Moffatt era not Russell T. Davies in a season five two-parter written funnily enough by Chris Chibnall.

Yeah, damn, totally ballsed that up. I think it's because that two-parter feels so much more RTD than Moffat, even though obviously neither wrote it. 🤣 But thanks Jon - glad you enjoyed the video!

Always dug the Sea Devils. Fun fact, pretty much all the two-VHS sets in the UK were issued on one longer tape in Australia. Not in LP mode or anything, just stuffed full of tape which made them quite heavy!

Wow, that does sound like it would be heavy. What type of box were the Oz Who tapes issued in? Clear plastic or more like the heavy black clamshell cases?

Really looking forward to this. There has been so much about the Silurians, the Sea-Devils seemed almost forgotten. It's good to finally see them take centre stage again, I've often thought I'd like to see an episode set in pre-historic times showing the events leading up to the Silurians and Sea-Devils going into hibernation in the first place. Seeing the Doctor being involved in those events woulld, I think, make a really interesting story.

I remember purchasing the Beneath the Surface boxset mainly for The Sea Devils. Its still in my top 5 best third doctor stories. I was excited to see them again soon after in Warriors of the Deep but sadly, that one did not live up to my expectations after this classic story, It has been years since I last visited Warriors but considering Turlough is my favorite companion and the sea devils are returning, I might as well give it a re-watch.

Nice to see some love for Warriors of the Deep. It's one of my favorites. Have both the VHS and DVD releases. Although I'm giving my VHS release to my dad when I move out.

Due to a time anomaly unexpectedly opening up in my hotel room as I watched this video, I was actually able to order Doctor Who Season 9 The Collection on blu-ray. So that was cool. Also, the samurai Sea Devils definitely needed some sort of hardened seaweed scimitar. That could be a thing. Thanks for the Sea Devil history lesson Jason, loved it.

Very good question. I usually watch it on my local ABC iView but that app won’t work outside Australia, so I might have to wait until I return home for some new Seas Devils action.

Yes, pretty sure it won’t work outside the UK. I’ve tried it ages ago in Australia and it wouldn’t play anything. Luckily, our ABC generally has certain high-profile programs available at the same time as the UK, it just means they get uploaded by the ABC at some crazy hour of the night.
