I have some rack compressors but for guitar and bass purposes I use pedals. For Bass but not just Bass- Markbass Compressore ECC81 Valve smoooothness, discontinued now though . I have a couple of budget guitar comps and they both work well, though with different characteristics. Harley Benton Dyna Compressor and the Rowin LEF-333 Comp Oh almost forgot the Spectracomp tone print on my TCE BG250 amplifier. That does a good job too especially as it gets just one knob to set it with.

Yep The Spectracomp is pretty slick AND you can just create your own toneprint. TC have said themselves: take the 'Stratocaster' toneprint and tweak to your own liking.

Great pedal. I have the full-sized version. For the price and the versatility that the tone prints get you it’s hard to beat. Helps save money to put towards those fancy delays and reverbs. 😀

Loaded the DynaQ Tone Print. Game changer. I recently added a Vox Valvenergy Mystic Edge Preamp that nestles in behind a Cab Zeus Stereo Cab Sim. I love the bright setting but needed a way to get a bottom end in it. Magic.

I like JHS, so I’ve been looking at the Pulp and Peel. Then I saw this and realized that this is what I need. Now, as someone else below pointed out, I can put that 130$ price difference to a fancy reverb and delay! I’m thinking Keeley Caverns or Walrus Fathom.

I get full size HyperGravity compressor. I absolutely love the sustain I get from it. And the TonePrint I have in mine in the "Feels Good" TonePrint by bluesman Kirk Fletcher. I Highly recommend ya check that one out. I've used the HyperGravity Compressor in my compositions I've posted on my channel. Cempression is one thing I'm almost never without in my playin'. Keep up the good work!

I'm eagerly awaiting you next installments. If you wish to continue past the last $500 pedals, could you go into cost effective volume pedals, power supply units, and pedal boards? Then maybe upgrades -- what should be the priority?

Great demo Bill - I like the pedal. I'll check one out as the Tone Prints seem cool. It's also compact. Other cheap compressor options? I have a Boss CS3 and a Marshall ED-1 Edward The Compressor Pedal - both low-tech, built like a tank and good at what they do and they don't cost much either. The MXR M102 Dyna Comp could be worth looking at as well.

Happy new year Bill! The Keeley Compressor Plus is a similarly priced and excellent pedal, with a useful Single Coil/HB switch, but that Tone Print capability puts this unit in another class. What's your opinion of its durability potential? The Keeley is nearly bullet-proof.

Hey Patrick! Keeley is no slouch for sure! As far as durability goes, the HyperGravity Mini seems pretty solid. The case is heavy for the size, and it looks like the switch is the same type as on the other TC pedals I own.

Thanks! Just FYI, I returned the PRS SE 277SH I mentioned I was getting. This one had a "woody" sound that I did not like, and that I couldn't EQ out. Maybe just that particular guitar? Anyhow, I've got a Squier Bass VI on the way, and I'll try the solid body 277 if I don't keep the Squier. Cheers!

Yes, TC Electronic can give you the details, but circuit is digital not analog as far as I know. I am not sure how you could do TonePrints with an analog circuit. Happy New Year!!!

hi man, my main style of music is metal, but watching this videos and hearing all the sounds different pedals can produce is really interesting. also i was wondering, do you recomend this compressor for metal and some cleans? (i know metal is not the main focus of the chanel) i just want to make my tapping and all those techniques sound better while i improve my playing. if i have to i will invest on a better one, but if i can save a few bucks it would be awesome

Hello friend, maybe you can help me in a big decision, my style is church worship, soft overdrive, good reverb and delays, and I look for a compressor, I am between the XOTIC SP, HYPERGRAVITY TC and in a lower possibility MOOER YELLOW COMP. (Give me please your point of view. All songs are not worship and slow, there may be alternative rock, very rhythmic, very little guitar soloist.

Hi Johann - what kind of guitar are you playing? I tried the XOTIC SP, but found that it did not work very with humbuckers. It seems much more focused on single coil pickups. The Hypergravity works well with both single coil and humbuckers. I have not used the Mooer compressor, so can't speak to that pedal.

It is a compressor, so it will reduce the dynamic range (the difference between loud and soft) of your signal. Is that what you mean by balanced?

What are your thoughts of compressors with Les Pauls ie himbuckers?

Humbuckers are problematic with some types of pickups for sure. You can create a TonePrint with the Hyper-Gravity to work well with a humbucker. Also, I tend to use compressors with blend knob (like the Wampler Ego), so the compressed signal can be balanced with the dry signal.

I had a little trouble at first. Make sure you have the volume and tone controls all the way up. Also, I find that the bridge pickup tends to work better than the neck on most of my guitars.

It's quiet on my rig. Of course with the toneprint editor, you could create some extreme compressor setting, and I am sure you would get more noise.

I have Mooer Yellow Comp, and lately i've changed my amp for a bigger version (speakers) and I have feelings that noise is larger when i play clean - ambient kind music. So I think Hypergravity will replace Mooer. Both are mini so in situation when i don't have any space anymore in my pedalboard this will be best decision :D
