Kerry, you make it look so eeeeaaasy!!! Glad you liked the Gippy Red Gum so much, and thanx for highlighting it by making it your 500th AND showing how you did it. I'll treasure and share the video!! Peter.

Congratulations on #500 and what a beautiful bowl! No one will ever guess it was an old fence post but what a great back ground story. Once again thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and sense of humour. Take care and stay healthy and safe.

The bowl has beautiful figure and color. Your friction wax is also exceptional. Thanks for the black CA tip. I didn't know they made it. I usually rub fine saw dust into the crack and then add the CA. I'm going to give the black CA a shot though.... THANKS! Wakodahatchee Chris

Thanks so much, mate. I think there might have been a miscommunication with the post office staff. They were just concerned about biosecurity, which I totally get. But as long as all the rules have been followed (no bark, no bugs, etc.), everything should be okay. Cheers for the offer, mate. Kezza

Looking fantastic Kerry. Thanks for the explanation on the minerals, many a time I have walked out of the shop looking black like your hands and arms reminiscing of my landscaping days wondering why I'm looking like that. Especially since I have been turning a fair bit of Blackbutt lately. Totally makes sense, dur. :)

Bonza bowl Mate! 500! Reminds me of paint on paint off, but with each one you do your skills are being honed to a sharp edge. Yeah sending timber from the states to Aussie will mean quarantine in Aussie customs for no-one knows when. Ain’t worth it. One thing we can’t get economically in the USA is banksia seed pods. Someone needs to fill a seatainer with the scoundrels and ship this way. When last I checked 1 single seed pod was US$18! Anyway I digress. Loved watching ya mate! Cheers!
@KerryCorney
@KerryCorney 4 ай бұрын
Seems like we need to set up some shipping of the pods, mate. That sounds like a plan. You’re spot on about the bowl turning. Honestly, I feel like the last 100 will be my best. Haha, funny how that works! I was looking at the first batch I made and didn’t really like some of the shapes, so I’ll have to add a heap at the end to make up for it. Cheers, Kez

Hey Kerry. About the importation of wood internationally... I was told it had to be pressure treated wood in order to travel over borders. Otherwise, as you said, there's a good chance the timber will have complications... wood infestations of insects, fungi, or any number of plant disease. I recently learned this because i work at a company that just had a bunch of german pine come in as pallets and support beams for new machinery. Great vid, and congrats on #500!

Good job on the 500 mate and great explanation as always. Im not sure about sending timber via domestic post but i know if its shipped in a container you just pay for the container to be fumigated. Costs a couple hundred dollars. Assume if someone sent you something and declared appropriately they and or you would just pay the appropriate customs duty.

I have a Killinger machine, which is a wood lathe, would you be able to do things like this with it? The model is Killinger KM 6000 S-Hydro. My father left it to me as an inheritance. It has not been used for a long time, but I would like to do some things besides work and privately. Can this machine work? perform this kind of thing, I would like you to answer me, since I don't really have experience in this, but I have a machine, thank you in advance.😊
@KerryCorney
@KerryCorney 4 ай бұрын
I did a quick Google search on that machine, and it’s a beauty. Though I’m not too familiar with its manual capabilities, it looks like a copy lathe to me, which is an amazing piece of equipment. I’d suggest starting by doing some research and checking out forums for more information. Sorry I can’t be more specific. Cheers, Kez
