I might be very impressed with the segmented projects but this is a textbook live edge bowl that was a pleasure to watch become what it is. I'm glad that bark stayed put. Those little spots of unexpected chatoyancy are always a nice find. Great work, Gary!

Thank you Jay for your comments they are much appreciated. This was really fun to turn. I had the blank in my shop for quite awhile and this is what I was seeing every time I looked at it. Now for the other half of the log. But it does have a lot of cracks on the end. Thanks for watching my friend, Gary

Such a beautiful piece of Walnut, Gary! Absolutely gorgeous! Your expert turning didn't do it any harm, either but brought out all the grain and color it has! Most excellent finish, this is just a prime example of what can be done with a piece of Black Walnut when you put it in the hands of a craftsman. Well done, my friend, keep'em coming! 😊 Phil

Thanks so much Phil. Coming from the King of live edge filled with bark I appreciate that. The pieces from the limb I got all seem to have beautiful grain. I did get a decent shape on it to help show it off. Sadly I heard that that tree may have to come down because of a tree decease. My nepehw told me that at the family reunion we went to last week. I think they got some good offers for the main part of the tree and there may be some more limbs for me. The limbs are huge. Thanks for watching buddy! Gary

So, it went really well. Of course with non-kiln-dried wood (that is not always perfectly shaped) you kinda have to do what the wood tells you and today it told me it needed to be taller so I epoxied a piece of canarywood as a nice pedastal. I'd show you pics, but KZbin doesn't let you do that.

It amazes me how you are able to turn a piece of lumber that most would either cut up to use or burn. Learn in every video how to use different pieces of lumber. Keep up the amazing work. 👽

Thank you very much. This ended up to be much thinner than the other half of the log which I plan on turning soon. Being thin making a live edge was the best way to show the heart wood. Thanks for watching, Gary
