Chronograph into ballistic gel, haven't seen the pine board box in awhile I think that would be interesting. Only 4 rounds needed too.

So the way barrel length works is that increasing the barrel length works in two ways so lets start with the first. The increased barrel length allows for a longer path after the bullet fires therefore giving more room for the gases to build up pressure in the barrel before the bullet exits the muzzle. However increasing the barrel length or (firing chamber to muzzle) to much will actually decrease bullet velocity because the gases will dissipate quicker at longer distances and not build up pressure. Subsection, the heavier barrel/length also means gravity will pull the puzzle downwards quicker in theory counter balancing the recoil. The problem with snub nose is the gases build up way to early and that pressure can be felt in the hand at back pressure. High caliber hand guns must usually be built in revolvers because well they're more reliable and more accurate. I'd only carry a .500 snub nose for one thing: 8 seconds of "BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. BOOM!!!!" at 5 or less yards straight to the head of a black bear or any other home instruder I want to make sure will be dead.

That gun is something every guy with a creative imagination must have thought of, I think it needs a stock and a Thompson style forward grip and a muzzle break to control the recoil. Oh and the revolver cylinder needs to be replaced with a chain feeder.

@Baxter James There is a prime measurement for ballistics vs wear for total gain. Similar to how the navy settled on the 16"/50 caliber rifle for the Iowa class battleships over the 16"/45 guns on the NC and SD classes. Just a bit more performance, but anything longer was negligible for a lot more weight per gun.

Probably not much, the thing with longer Barrels is if it's too long for the cartridge the round will lose velocity because the gas begins to depressurize tge further it expands.

Seeing that 3 wheeler brought back some memories,1983 I was 10 years old, Santa brought me a ATC 70 but didn't leave dad instructions on how to start it,my old man was pulling on that rope for 30 minutes finally he pulls out his blackhawk 44 mag and shoots my 3 wheeler , and takes it back to Honda of Ocala and punched the sales man on Christmas he goes to jail, and the mechanic said ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS TURN THE START SWITCH ON

The .500 S&W magnum is also my favorite cartridge, Scott. So the more videos you make using this cartridge, the better. It sure would be nice to see the muzzle velocities of the various .500 rounds that you use, from that 20” barreled BFR. Maybe a velocity comparison between the short, long, and VERY long barrels would be of interest to a lot of your subscribers. You do great work producing your videos, and I want to say thank you very much for all pf your hard work in bringing them to us. By the way, my stock in the company that makes your set-up tables, has doubled in value, so there's that!
