This appeared in my feed and I have just watched it greeting like wain. I'm well into my 60s now and this wonderful scene touched something deep within my heart. I've no cried in at least 50 odd years until here. I grew up in an orphanage during the 60s and they weren't nice safe spaces believe me. Never having had a family I have lived a life of despair and heart wrenching loneliness. This scene though. It's so uplifting. If you have a family, play this loud and have a singalong.
@sidpheasant7585 Жыл бұрын
And if you don't have a family, promise to walk 500/1000 miles through the Holy Spirit for God. It's worth it - with them we are NEVER alone. Proclaimers are people who proclaim ... the truth and the love. Just like the Disciples, and beloved Saint Paul, who did PLENTY of walking.

Hey Hugo, David in Syracuse NY, USA here. I also am in my 60's and am planning to walk the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage this October. This week as I was making more plans this tune came into my mind. The next day, it played on the car radio! So on Y-T I went to get lyrics, see the singers, etc. I did not know the music was in a movie. While I am not R. Catholic, I am a Christian; at a point on the Camino there's pole on a large mound of stones mostly and a cross at the very top, it's name is Cruz de Ferro (iron cross); folks bring a small stone/rock to leave symbolizing a burden to "cast" off from their life and say prayers. With your permission, I'd like to include you in those, that you might overcome and heal from your "burdens." Btw it's about 500 miles along the Camino Frances, my path.
@sidpheasant7585 Жыл бұрын
@@mainerdmoose9242 Amazingly (or maybe just as we expect with God), I have had the Camino on my mind for several years now. I'm a little younger than the two of you, but still do not think I could do the whole length. But some of it I would love, my wife too. I have a good friend from northern Spain who knows that route quite well ... and how very wonderful it is to walk it. And how it changes people. The Holy Spirit has changed me already, so I would go to show my gratitude and love for Him, and for Saint James who matters to me a lot, too.

It's a very different place now. Down by the docks was always a place for the working girls, housing was dirt cheap but, very run down. Now with the Scottish Parliament being there is has been cleaned up, housing is a fortune and the working girls have moved on. At least they had an honest occupation, you knew you were being screwed for cash, with a politician they tend not to be honest enough to admit that..... Hope you and your family are safe and well

does love like this still exist now in 2021?
@sidpheasant7585 Жыл бұрын
The love that this song encapsulates ultimately is the love of GOD, conveyed into the music, through the music, and out of the music, by the beloved Holy Spirit. As we saw in the context of Her Majesty's mourning and funeral, this greatest kind of love is going strong, even in the middle of all the evil and chaos characteristic for the 2020s. Surely boy-girl is a kind of sub-part or manifestation of this love, but the love of God for human beings is the strongest and greatest, and it is possible to feel part of that for one another, even for total strangers; but we have to dump a certain amount of baggage to get to that. I did and I have, but I had to go very low before being shown how to "see" in this new and better way. Now I kind-of feel quite often as if I am in the middle of that dancing and singing and rejoicing crowd. Even when completely "alone", which the Holy Spirit ensures I never now am...
@sidpheasant7585 Жыл бұрын
Since Leith actually means "wet place", the very title is divine - contrasting the shining of the light of the sun (or Jesus) with wetness that comes from the rain that is the Holy Spirit. No life without sunshine, no life without water. Proclaimers are people who proclaim the truth and the love, and the first song in the movie is "Sky takes the soul", shown in the context of British soldiers in Afghanistan... The lyrics of the actual song "Sunshine on Leith" are deeply religious, referring directly to God as "the Chief" who puts the sunshine on Leith, and in general relating to gratitude to God for salvation, mercy, kindness and for allowing us to stop being blind. That's what it's ALL about...
