In my experience HR we never put themselves in your shoes to protect you, they’re out to protect the companies assets. Keep that in mind when working for a well know cooperation. By the time you start to show sign of Retaliation towards the company they are already looking at list of possible new hire to replace you with. I’ve met people who work in HR and they’ve told me the shadiest things they do to get rid of a employee that is no longer useful to the company. Stay strong and United!

My grandfather was a union man. He told me that "no one ever crossed the striking folks or they'd lose their lives". It's a real shame scabs have no respect for their fellow humans. Hiring people with no experience will likely backfire on Chevron. Hang in there!

@agoniaXdunya2 жыл бұрын
@@that.ll_do_pig yes, knowingly crossing a picket line demonstrates a lack of respect for your fellow human beings’ struggles. The desperation argument leads to slavery. There is someone desperate enough on this planet right now to exchange their labor for bread, water, and a roof over their head.

Chevron needs to start paying a living wage. Local 5 at the Richman plant has asked for an additional 5% (17% total over 4 years) pay increase above that USW agreed national labor agreement. Most make $150,000 to $200,000 per year, with an average of $11,332 in annual employee bonuses.

This is how the vast majority of businesses see their workers not as people but as rented equipment for which when used up or broken as being someone else's problem so long that it workman's comp isn't a part of the picture. The differences in how blue and white collar workers are treated couldn't be more different while those in white collar jobs are treated humanly blue collar workers are simply punished for not being as successful be it the horrendous work conditions as well the subsistence wages.

They show you how much you mean to them EVERYDAY... and you keep giving them what they want.... following thier directions... checking all the boxes, obeying the signs.... keeping your head down.... holding signs in the street... if that actually worked... you WOULD NOT be able to do it so freely.

Can unions negotiate safety along with wages and benefits (fix this piece of equipment or study and address this issue by this date)? Seems extremely important if the plant is in disrepair. Getting a raise only to find yourself permanently injured for one reason or another could prove devastating.
