As a vendor myself, I really value these videos and your mindset throughout a deal. As well as your thought process behind moving certain cards. This is great, keep the content coming!

I started saying what you do. Make me an offer. I was tired of negotiating against myself. I think it worked out.

Same here. I always say “make me an offer”. I completely avoid the percentage of comps thing altogether. That has to end sooner or later.

That's good. Most people will get the message. I had a buyer this past weekend ask for my best, then gave me a sideways look when I said I don't want to negotiate against myself. It happens from time to time.

What happen to the "Good Old Days," when customers paid what you were asking, or just a bit less and went on about their business? Today, people are trying to do "shade-tree-like" deals, as I truly hate the: 1. "I want to be at..." You want to be at? This is my card that you approached me about?! 2. "You have any room on this?" Of course, but it must be fair for both of us. Those are my two biggest pet peeves, but I have another that truly ticks me off, which is "Devaluing my card(s)." If you approach me for a car that's priced, reasonably priced and your first instinct is to devalue my card(s) are by: 1. Pointing out very minor issues, basically nit-picking. 2. Pointing out several recently "Sold/Comps" on eBay, but only averaging out the lowest of the "Sold," as if I am a freaking idiot! 3. Finally, when they can't devalue the card(s) anymore, nor eBay's "Sold/Comps," I have had buyers literally trash the player! Yes, they trash the player on the card(s) that "they" approached me about! I also get upset with guys who attempt to show you Sold/Comps on regular(basic) versions of the parallel card they are haggling me about.

Everything you said rings true for many people. I've had many conversations at shows since I started vlogging about these same issues. Other dealers tell me about certain guys who they hate dealing with because of the things you talked about. Unfortunately, those who use these tactics consistently probably view it as clever negotiating rather than something that could burn a bridge.

That Goff was a BGS 8 and it was cracked out for a resub and was accidentally damaged. It was last graded a 6.5.

That’s the reason why I don’t buy raw cards

That is unfortunate. I thought it was odd that it wasn't graded when it was acquired.

Personally, I love to see sincerity and authenticity from people, especially kids! I have had buyers approach me, and you can tell they are highly interested in the card, but just can't afford it. I had this kid come up and tell me everything under the sun about a Phil Foden autograph card that had an average eBay "Sold/Comps," from his rookie stats to his current stats to where he stands as of the day of trade night. We could make a deal, because he only had $40 cash and a a stack of about 15 $1.00 to $3.00 cards. But because I recognized that Phil Foden was his favorite player, I ended up just giving him two $20 Phil Foden cards and the kid was ecstatic!

Great video and awesome to hear your thoughts on this. Sometimes I get caught up in the thinking about making at lesst $200 on those big cards and should be thinking about what else can I get for this $2000 and turn over quickly.

I think many sellers are guilty of that, myself included. We get this idea in our heads that we need to get x amount out of some card. Yet the dedication to get that price is sometimes to our detriment.

If you're a dealer, or shop owner, please be respectful of other sellers! You have no idea how many LCS owners and dealers at sports cards shows and even flea markets, who falsely believe other sellers are broke and/or desperate for money, as many of us are not. If i don't sell one card at a card show, and I know my prices are listed and fair, I'm good with that. I just chalk it down as a bad show. I've literally been offered 60% for a highly-touted card(s) refused, and either sold the card(s) for what i was asking minutes later or sold it for more than what I was asking at another show.

That is one thing I've never understood: the "firesale" mentality. I see it often at the local shows with new vendors. The "sharks" come by and act surprised when these guys aren't selling their cards at bulk discounts.

@sourcingsailor49872 күн бұрын
"Way down?" What are you talking about? His cards were down at the beginning of he season, but many of them have rebounded and even increased in valued since the pre-season. I have about 20 Burrow rookies, all color and just over the last month, i have pulled two low-numbered Joe Burrow die-cut Tiger Strip cards. Joe Burrow has been on fire for at least three weeks and his card values are reflecting that fact!

I averaged out the sales and priced the card accordingly a couple of days before the show. If there are lower sales since then, not much to be done there.
