I shudder to think how many counterfeit non-auto base cards are in PSA slabs. Kudos for picking the fake up. Sucks for the dealer if he himself unwittingly purchased it. Hopefully it gets decertified and if it is cracked and resubbed PSA pick it up.
@TripleCrown24Күн бұрын
To their credit, I believe PSA gets it right far, far, far more times than they get it wrong. They are not perfect though and I hope that is a lesson to others to use their own judgment in any purchasing decision. The problem in this particular case is that the auto was raw at a reasonable price. Don't know if I'd say it was a steal, certainly a fair price for a Mays auto. I can only hope someone didn't fall prey to that dealer.
@1stBowmanКүн бұрын
@@TripleCrown24 No doubt but the thought that perhaps as many as 20% of PSA slabs are not what they are supposed to be - the early ones probably did not have the same level of scrutiny as today - is worrisome. Could be 25% could be 5%. I've heard graders are given one minute or less to evaluate a card and assign a grade. If that is so, 50 seconds of that minute should be spent ascertaining whether it's authentic and a cursory glance for the grade, which is so subjective anyway. The main objective should be authentication. I've always thought that. The market will determine whether a grade is accurate or not. I see counterfeiting becoming a significant issue as the hobby grows ever larger and more lucrative. Cheers.

Awesome 2020 Judge Mini superfractor. I absolutely love A&G chrome. I remember when we first heard about them going to come out with them in chrome I thought that was a terrible idea. As soon as I seen the first look I was in love. I have the 2021 superfractors of Moncada. Still looking for the 2021 red refractors. I actually didn't bother bidding on the 2020 superfractor because I kept missing out on the red refractors. A month later I got both reds.🤦♂️🤣

I'm the same way. I thought A&G and chrome didn't mix, turns out Topps was onto something with that.

What’s with the bad wifi at these National shows? Even smaller shows there are wifi issues. It’s 2024 how do these venues not have top notch wifi available that works consistently?

I'm not an IT expert by any means, but part of me wonder if it's an infrastructure issue. Most of these places were built in a far less-advanced digital landscape. Then again, the I-X Center was renovated not all that long ago and I saw staff testing the wi-fi capabilities on Wednesday morning before the VIP access opened. Not sure what the solution is.

I have never understood that. While I can emphasize with wanting to show off a card to a large audience, showcase space is very valuable at this show. If that was me, I'm using every spot I have open to put out a card to sell.

@TripleCrown242 күн бұрын
Yeah it's not a good tactic on their part, especially if they put your card back out later at a jacked up price. That happened to me last November, guy comes up saying how he has to put the card out at 90% because nobody would buy it any higher. I walk over to his table maybe six hours later and guess what? My card is in there with my exact sticker price on it.

@@rjzeph6199its so the dealer knowing the buyer is going to negotiate down, can still profit and the buyer feels like he got a deal.

They overprice 1: knowing the Wi-Fi sucks, that they’d catch a buyer willing to pay sticker.. and 2: buyer negotiating down feeling like they’re getting a deal, and the dealer makes a profit still. 3: dealers or anyone on eBay can ask anything they want, it’s weather they get it or not.

Traveling museums. Seen this back in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Guys set up and they won’t move a single dollar off their sticker. Same inventory show after show. Frustrating
@TripleCrown242 күн бұрын
The reply below mine is correct: traveling museums. Some dealers only do this show or a select handful of shows throughout the year. It's not a source of income for them, rather a vacation for a week to hang out with their friends.
