I had the b8.5 S4 stage 1 with 034, drove it with tunes for 30k miles with no issues (stock for 48k miles). Then after 80K, i started having timing chain cover leak due to over rev (pass stock redline to 7000 RPM), motor mounts issue (after my 50k replacement), sway bar link issue, oil injectors, and squeaks. And ultimately, I decided to get rid of it. Overall, the ownership experience has been very well up until the last 6 months of my ownership. Im happy to own a car that is this capable on both acceleration, rough road handling, comfort, and driver focus. Visibility is amazing, and makes it one of my favorite cars to road trip in. I'm in a 23' 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 now, very happy with this choice & an upgrade overall.

I had kind of the same experience, the repairs started getting pretty often towards the end of me owning it. I have an IS350 F Sport as my daily now and I’ll be getting an R35 as my weekend car within the next 6 months

I've rented the 250 before, the interior ergonomics is really good for what it is, I find that to be more comfortable than the S4, which also led me briefly wanting a is500 or RC500, having driven both that and LC500, I'd have to say, as a daily car it exceeds my expectation. But as a weekend car it does not much for me besides the v8. I take it R35 meaning the GTR R35? Looking forward to seeing videos of that car on your channel! I've heard lots of great things about it.

Awesome car! I've got basically the same setup and it rips! I have CAP test pipes to stock exhaust with vibrant ultra quiets replacing the rear mufflers and it sounds pretty similar to yours, just with a bit less tone. May do some high flow cats later to take care of the smell though

I surprisingly haven’t had any issues with the smell from test pipes lol. I had an ecs valved exhaust before this one and it sounded like ass 💀

@@Slamdd Haha you've gotta be so careful with what you do to the exhaust after test pipes are in. Some of the worst sounding cars ever if they're straight piped. I'm impressed with how much those AWE resonated DPs tamed yours!

Thing launches pretty hard man. Currently on 034 stg1 93 on my B8.5 S5. Wasnt planning on going stg2 but, cats went so having to address that so thinking I'll go single pulley. I do want to go E40 on the stg1 to see how well it does. PB at the track so far is 12.1. will switch to E40 once I do the hpfp piston upgrade and the RS7 lpfp upgrade.

And I'm still stock :) What I like the most about the 3.0T is that it's the closest thing to a naturally aspirated engine with no lag and perfect launch from a dig with ZF transmission. What milage is that S4 btw?

Mines at 92k. For the most part these are pretty solid reliability wise but they do have the normal Audi issues (water pump, oil burning, pcv, timing chains) I’d recommend a b8.5 but only if it’s been well maintained.

Hey man, nice car, just warm it up and check your coolant level it looks far below minimum. If it drops again time to check leaks before a bigger problem happens. Maybe its because of the heat exchanger i dont have it so i dont know if its normal like that with it.

I had one a 2013 s4 premium with sport diff 7 speed dct, ie tune on dual pulley 91 oct cts catless pipes with cts downpipes, heat exchanger, it was fun and all but not extremely fast cars, they do have transmission issues on the dct auto and timing chain issues, timing chains design is the worst its on the back of engine have to remove transmission to do chains and tensioners, they have heat soak issues from the supercharger and you loose hp after 2 or 3 hard runs, they can run 10's with methanol but thats pushing the stock limits of the engine you wont know when your going to throw a rod out the block or loose compression in a cylinder, also the ie crank pulley that goes over the stock pulley is a bad idea it can stress out your stock pulley and separate it from the stock rubber moulding and if on a hard pull will over heat real quick and can lead to blown head gaskets, best to get cts solid crank pulley upgrade, these engines also suffer from loss of coolant due to the design of the pcv system the pcv system has o rings that separate the coolant coolant flows through the pcv in a different cavity if that o ring fails you will get coolant mixed with your engine oil if you dont catch it in time there go your rod bearings, these cars dont make 500 crank hp on just a dual pulley 91 or 93 oct tune that requires 100 plus octane or e85, i say if you got the deep pockets and dont care then this is the car for you, id recommended saving up if you want a audi s4 and get the 2018 and up b9 s4 more reliable better transmission has the super strong zf transmission and a actual v6t engine with a turbo more capable than the previous b8 b8.5 more easier to make hp and run 10's, not talking smack cuz i myself do like the b8.5 s4 just saying all the things that can go wrong.

I will agree that the b9 is a wayyyy better platform for building as I’ve seen 700+ hp builds with the TTE710 turbo. I don’t have my s4 anymore but I have an IS350 F Sport as my daily now, gonna make a clean bagged show car out of it then go R35 or Mk5 Supra as the next fast car build

@@r.j.parker3734 really the big issue on 18-19 s4s is the rocker arm failures. If that’s been addressed and you just ask general maintenance questions then you’ll be good to go, my buddy has an 18 s5 with over 100k and it’s been great to him 💯

It wasn’t tooooo bad but making this much power does bring some issues. The big one was the pcv that goes out at 80-100k. Also burned about 1-1.5 quarts of oil every 4k miles and went through a TON of fuel hoses. It also needs carbon cleaned right after you do the pcv or it’ll go out again soon after. But no major issues besides that

@@Slamdd I got the S4 without the sport diff it's also the standard version and not the DSG. I had a tech tell me the sport diff doesn't make much difference and that the manual is a better choice over the DSG for maintenance. It has like 40km on the engine and I've had nothing but enjoyment driving it even with stock.

@@Slamdd manual here only up to 2011, then S-Tronic only. On very very very rare occasions there are manuals on B8.5 on sedans only, which in Europe aren't popular at all. So 99.8% of all S4s here are estate versions, which after facelift came only with S-Tronic. Even regular A4 Sedan are quite difficult to come by here in EU.
