I usually hate these types of gauge cluster, but this one fits very well with the interior. And speedo doesn't skip the number. It goes 65, 66, 67... Unlike some OEM speedo's that skip 3-5 numbers at once

I had an M140i for 4 years and started down the whole modifying route, but after spending about £6000 I realised to make it close to a real M car, I'd need to spend about £20,000. And for that money I could buy a real M car, so I did (an OG M2). M140i's can be absolute weapons in a straight line, but without a LOT of money spending on chassis and suspension mods, they will never be fun on twisty roads.

I wouldn’t say it’s not fun on twisty roads. The limit is definitely lower than an M car for sure, but the fact that it moves around at lower speeds, means I’m having more fun than a guy in an M car.

I think having 4 years in an M140i and then an M2, gives me the perfect ownership experience to compare the two.

I loved my M140i and had it for 4 years, taking it from a 2 yr old standard car to a 455bhp/634nm beast, and it was a beast in a straight line. Yes I could get it sideways even with the open diff, but it always felt a bit unpredictable. Maybe if I had fitted a LSD it might have increased my fun a bit, maybe, but the bouncy back end never felt very 'fun', and yes I know I could have fitted underbody bracing, upgraded the shocks/springs, polybushed the subframe, etc (I worked in the motor industry for many years so I do know a fair bit about modern and older cars), but I realised that to get it to where I wanted would have cost me 20 grand on top of the purchase price, and for half that I could buy a real M car which would still be better even standard than 20 grand of mods on my M140i would have been. Now would it have been more fun than a real M car with 20 grand of mods ? Dunno, maybe, but probably not. 'Fun' is subjective to the driver. I find the very predictable rear end of my M2 a lot more fun personally. It really is a complately different experience, and having owned both, I think I can make a pretty decent informed opinion. Hope that explains things a bit better mate.

I went through this already, unless you want a B58 and 4 doors better get the M2C. Too much money and still worse steering feel and small track + tires compared to F87. Btw why not just get a original, coded Blackpanel 300+ speedometer? Looks way better.

@@b58f21 I already had I black panel so did not need the retrofit. But there are a lot of companies out there doing this, at least in Germany. Don’t know about NL. Google it, there are also tutorials. It’s not that hard. You need a new Blackpanel from BMW (right one, there are different versions) and coding via esys software. If you buy a used one it has to be reseted to 0km/miles. Not sure if it can be done with esys.

M2C is like 55k, and to get the car on plates in Belgium is another 6k taxwise. So +60k to have a stock M2C. My M140i was 29k, +8k in suspension mods, 3k engine mods and 2k to get on plates. So that's a +40k car. Idk but 20k seems like a fair difference to me. B58 is also cheaper to maintain.
