@SomeOne_862 жыл бұрын
Supras and NSXs are "higher level" cars. Mitsubishi's car that competed with them was the 3000GT. The Eclipse was more of a WRX/Silvia/Prelude competitor.
@rad80782 жыл бұрын
It sucks that the 3rd gen got “nerfed” so much, it had the setup to be a great car with awd more than likely planned and a mostly bolt on upgrade from evo/2g parts… but with the evo coming to the usa I think they wanted to help sales for the evo so they took the eclipses turbos and awd and put a more of a driver comfort setup on it to make it less of a poster car if that makes sense
@SomeOne_862 жыл бұрын
@@rad8078 They kinda made it into some kind of GT. Btw, why is literally nobody building those later V6 eclipses? They have 3.8l, that's no joke displacement, I'm surprised people aren't slapping on superchargers and shit on those.

I had every bolt-on and mod imaginable on that thing and I was still a little slower than the turbos...😅. Couldn't get the turbo model because the insurance was insane. Summer of 2001, good times. Also there are eclipse 1 and 2G in Europe and Japan. The export models have folding mirrors and amber turn signals in the taillights but are still LHD. With a few bolt ons you were trouncing everything except vettes and Supras, and the occasional modded 300zxTT. But a few more bolt on's, injectors and a tune and you were in the 400hp territory till the trans blew, or a rod, then you'd rebuild it stronger, except for the trans. Unless you had extra money left over for a John Sheppard transmission. But the gearing in 2nd, 3rd and 4th was long and perfect for drag racing. 2nd gear in an AWD would get you to 68mph redline, 72mph in the FWD.... Days gone by..
