@super69546 жыл бұрын
It's coming along nicely when you put that turbo on do you have to up the engine oil pressure, When the turbo kits were put on the Belarus tractors as an add on we had to do it. When the factory turbo motors became popular, just before we quit the dealership they had a different oil pump in them. I'm guessing those actually flow more oil for the turbo. I've seen a few motors in Rogators with cummins 5.9's eat turbo's before guys clued in oil pumps were getting worn out. The last one had a turbo then 3 days later it locked the crank, if the guys tested it properly they would of found that out. But they rushed the install to get back in the field in spraying season. Turbo's fail usually because of operator errors, lack of service, or oil problems. Looking forward to it running Take care.

Does it have a boost compesator or are you just going to turn the pump up and let it smoke before boost?
@walterk12216 жыл бұрын
fowletm1992 there should NEVER be a "boost compensator" on a tractor engine. It would reduce available fuel at initial clutch engagement and possibly lead to stalling the engine. The proper approach is to turn up the pump until light grey smoke is observed at full load at rated RPM...
@wyrtwister42606 жыл бұрын

One question, when adding a turbo to an engine that did not have a turbo should you be concerned about the higher compression ratio or wil it even be an issue
@Blazer02LS6 жыл бұрын
That depends a lot on the engine and how it will be run. Tractor engines run at a lower speed and are very overbuilt for the power they produce. That makes it a very easy thing to add a turbo. Now if this was a typical passenger car/truck where they shave off every ounce of weight from the engines and the castings are not designed for it a turbo can easily blow those up unless you change out parts to drop the compression.
@tractormanmike18306 жыл бұрын
Blazer02LS thank you for the informative reply. The other thing to consider would be the injectors or the pump to compensate for the extra air the turbo will. Push through the engine. Would it need more fuel
@Blazer02LS6 жыл бұрын
To make more power you need to supply more fuel. On an older tractor this usually isn't hard as the companies generally cheated a bit and would use a single pump across multiple HP ratings in the same engine family. They just turned them down to de-rate the "smaller" tractors. That has been going on for a long time. It is also one of the things that makes tractor tests interesting as you discover that some brands would send ringers to the tests...

Not a criticism. I know that ag diesels were turbocharged in the 60s. I remember my neighbor bringing home a new 4020 . Naturally aspirated. My question reverts back to a cutting torch. You start with a balance d flame and suddenly introduce a bunch of air. The flame gets hot enough to cut steel. Is the fuel pump adjusted to put more fuel in the cylinder?
@caseylaehn35156 жыл бұрын
Diesel engines are just the opposite of gas engines. The leaner the mixture the cooler it runs, the richer the mixture the hotter it runs. That's why older diesel engines don't warm up very good at idle, they are probably running close to 100:1 air/fuel ratio at idle.
@enednas8016 жыл бұрын
gasoline engine will do that, diesels not so much.if a diesel get more air nothing happends. it needs fuel to increase power. gasolines will run hotter and melt metal if too lean. im curious to if wes knows he must and how to adjust the pump. its the lid on the side he must remove and loosen 2 screws on the main pump housing and turn a disc to let the 2 main pump piston get longer stroke hence more fuel in per injection cycle. i had a cav pump on a perikns apart and learned the whole mecanism. in that engine it was 50% originally adjusted. dont know how much u need to amp it up to feed the 1 kilo overboost.

Whjerts 56 why?what in the name of God do you think an injector pump does? The size of the pump makes no odds the pump can be turned up or down depending on the variables on an old tractor like this the injectors are probably car boned up so you might need to give her a bit more juice if she was going to be worked which is unlikely so leave her be would be my call .
