Finally some to explain how to set up the dash cam...Thank you. How do you when it's fully charged? Usually take mine down at night to charge.

They don’t charge. They have to have 12v power to operate. If they have any kind of battery, it’s just to retain the settings and to allow it to save the last file when you cut the power to it.

How does the lock feature work. Do you press it once and then it just saves the clip. Does it save 30 seconds before and after you press it ?

It works just like any other dashcam. It saves (prevents overwriting) the current clip that is recording. They typically record in 5 minute increments. In most cases, it’s an unnecessary action. If something happens and you want to get it off the SDCard, you’re going to do it as soon as you get to where you’re going. But if you’re on a long trip that might exceed the SDCard’s capacity, it’s a good feature to have.

What's the focus distance? I'm looking for something to record my odometer but it has to be mounted pretty close

Like most dashcams, it's focused to infinity. But I"m not sure exactly how close it'll film. I have one more to install, so I'll try it out and see. Is it a digital odometer?

@@504RoadTrips I haven't chosen a car yet for my channel but it'll likely be digital. I thought about mounting it on the steering column but that moves and might be in a different position depending on the driver.

@@MillionMileDrive it probably won’t move enough to have the odometer out of frame. It would just require some manipulation of the video when the driver changes. You also might consider accessing the odometer through the OBD2 port. There’s probably some kind of external odometer you could hook up and record.

mine just keeps turning off anytime it’s plugged into a power source

It should automatically turn on when it has power, and off a few seconds after power is cut. Test your power source with something else and make sure it works. If so, try holding it into the power source tight. It may be that the plug isn’t fitting into the lighter outlet tightly enough and is losing contact. If that’s the case, you may need to make some modifications to tighten it up.
