50800mAh at about 12V (which is a safe assumption for a voltage rating of a car starter) would be about 610 watt-hours. The highest capacity 18650 on the market has a capacity of about 13 watt-hours, so you'd need 46 of those high capacity (read: expensive) cells to make one of these. That would make for a very large and expensive device (ie. not this one).

i know this is an old video but just to warn you about keeping this unit inside your car. In the summer time when the temps are high the li-ion batteries don't like heat and so just be careful where you put it inside of the car and make sure the temps don't exceed 150F which is very easy in the summer time inside a vehicle

I don't think I heard ya mention, but if ya look towards the top, there is a knife looking area? That's to cut a seat belt, if someone were to get caught in an accident and couldn't reach the unbuckle button. And the Metal shiny diamond at the bottom of the unit is to bust a window open if a car was hit in the door and the door won't open in an emergency. I will say, like the other commenters , that 50k sounds a liiiittle high for the size and weight, but from what you have gathered, it's a pretty high capacity regardless! Thanks for the Review man! Nice! I think you might have forgotten to mention another difference the two units had... the yellow one had a metal protrusion at the opposite end from the lights. That is a safety feature to let you get through your windshield by breaking the glass. It also explains the choice of material in the black part. It is probably rubbery and provides a good grip when hitting the glass.

the tm15 model has only 6000 mah. I confirmed this with the manufacturers. I tested the device from fully charged to zero to charge my fone (4000mah battery) and found that it can only charge the fone a max of one time

IF YOU OPEN UP THE RED CABLE BLADE, YOU WILL FIND 10 POWER TRANSISTORS IN THERE WHICH GIVE THE PEAK BURST OF POWER. I don't have this exact unit and bought mine in 2014, when they came on to the market.But it does start a 3.9L car in good condition. The charge socket however, keeps falling off as the plug is very thin, and it levers off the socket. I have sent it back twice now and it has happened again. It's a useful device, I am going to make my own charge cable with a bigger prong as this is its real weakness, when they send me another

The usual misrepresentation in capacity of mAH ratings in Chinese battery packs is to add the sum of individual cell ratings, even in a series-parallel circuit (eg, 11.1 VDC from 3 series sets, of 2 parallel sets, where real AH capacity is then 2x cell ratings, not 6x). Beyond that, there's a Chinese culture of fraud to flat out lie, that's also found in laptop packs, flashlight cells, etc. 50800 mAH from 6 cells would require 8500 mAH cells, using that 6x distortion, whereas high output 18650's tend to run 2000-2500 mAH (and most regular capacity cells unsafe for loads over 3 amps no more than 4000 mAH, with many labels higher than that frauds). That means a pack like this if it uses high output rated cells is more like 11.1 VDC 4500 mAH real capacity, and if those are 25 amp rated cells, 50 amps safe output current. That's why there are other reviews of similar packs, some that lie worse than this one with 1000 amp claims, that show fires, explosions, wiring meltdowns, etc.

I have one claiming to be 68800 mAh. I tested it with IPad Air 2. Drained its battery to zero, turned off, connected to power bank and let it get charged. After a bit more then 2 hours it did charge IPad draining itself down to 30%. Remaining power disappears in matter of 15 minutes when charging anything else is attempted. The numbers seem to be grossly exaggerated. IPad Air 2 has battery rated at 7430 mAh. Judging by the numbers one could expect that power bank should be able to charge IPad almost 9 times. Seller informed me that rated power is "virtual" not real and that virtual power is industry standard. Problem is I paid with real money, not virtual. I am unable to find references to claimed virtual power. Can I get some explanations? Seems like a lot of bulldust to me.

how in the world does this have 50k mah, the most powerful lithium cells on the market right now weighs in at 43grams per 2200mah @ 3.7v, there has to be a mistake in that capacity...even using them you would be at only 22,000mah and be around the weight of this device..

You can not go by weight. I bought a used battery pack at a yard sell for $2. They told me it would not hold a change long but I wanted it for parts so it did not matter. Any way when I took it apart I found several metal plates inside that did nothing but add weight. Well I got my $2 out of it.

I bought one of these on Amazon and kept it in the trunk of my car. Twice a year I would take it in the house and charge it. Last Thursday I was charging it in my home office and it blew up and caused a fire. Luckily we were home, and I had smoke detectors in the basement where my office is. When I went downstairs there was a fire 3 feet wide and 3 feet high. We had a fire extinguisher and I was able to put it out, but it caused lots of damage and the whole house smells like smoke now. It clogged my air conditioner and completely blocked the filter so it froze up and I had to call a service man. I wonder if anyone else had one of these blow up on them?

Easy and accurate way to test actual battery capacity against claimed capacity is to fully discharge the unit then use the 1000mAh wall charger to fully recharge it. If it actually is 50,800mAh it will take more than 50 hours to fully charge it. I would bet that it charges it overnight.

I did this test on a unit owned by a friend as I simply didn't believe the claimed capacity. The wall charger was rated at 15 volts putting out 1 amp, it only took about 5 hours to charge. That's about 75 watt hours of charge to fully recharge the battery. Based on charging time alone, that would make it the equivalent of a 5.8 amp hour battery at 12.8 volts or 20.2 amp hours at 3.7 volts. The labeling of 58800 mAh is quite obviously misleading otherwise it would take MUCH longer to charge. One thought I had is that it's 58800 mAh at only 1 volt. These units should quote the rating AND voltage or use watt hours. Having said that, this unit is cheap so might be OK if it could restart your car and charge your phones in an emergency. I was able to fully charge several phones and a camping lantern before flattening the battery.

Also note that the documentation with the unit was almost useless - it had no details about charging time etc. There weren't even any details of the internal battery used and what the capacity actually was. It was very cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.

It not that it has a capacity of 50,800mah which is a misnomer, should just say 50 amp booster. It can only help provide 50 amps to your 12v system to help start the engine. (1000 mah is 1 amp). It basically uses the same technology used in UPS and inverters systems of taking a lower power battery. For instance inside UPS is a 12v 9ah battery. The UPS can take that battery and provide 120v for about 5 to 10 minutes depending on the load. It can also have two of these batteries running in series and have more run time on the ups. And if you used an actually car battery in an UPS you might be able to get 48 hours run time if you are just using it to power a lower power lamp So in other words it is a boost converter. Using the max wattage the battery pack can provide and shoving it all in 30 seconds for starting power. Yet who the hell thinks it was a bright idea to use LiPo battery as the battery pack to do this. Those packs are not meant to be drained that fast.Yes the other comments about its actually battery capacity are right, it is much less than 50,800.

It would be nice to test the MAH of this battery. I suspect it is overrated like most of these power banks. The MAH is usually rated at the batteries voltage not at the boosted output, so a 5,000 MAH battery at say 3.7 volts is more like 2,500 at 5 volts and so on. I load test all my power banks and all of them have the rating based on the battery. Something to keep in mind when purchasing one of these. If it can actually jump start a car I would say it has good power.

Its basically works like the other jump starters battery units out there rated at 300 to 600 amps. When those units themselves have a 12v 9ah to 12v 12ah battery. So it can only provide that 50,800 (50 amps) for a very short period. Like 5 to 15 seconds or less to help start a vehicle. So as long as it is a small vehicle. The 50,800 was not suppose to mean an actual capacity. It was only meant to be used as a deliver charge for the small time frame of 5 to 15 or less seconds it takes to crank and start a small vehicle.

12.6v 1amp charger will not be fast at all I guessing there are 8x18650 batteries in there 4x2 in parallel each will be capable of at least 2amps each so 8000ma charge rate would be preferred over this led security light psu.

eyeswideawake5 It won't matter, on or off, providing that there is no load on it BUT it is never going to be a jump starter... A) The quoted battery capacity is a fraud, shown by actually testing it or simply by looking at it. It's far too small. B) Even if there were enough capacity, neither the jump leads nor the connector socket could carry the current drawn by the starter motor.

on these it uses a 4s 14.4 volt high drain lithium battery flat pack, like they use on remote control monster trucks, those are usually 2 to 5 ah (2000 to 5000 mah). So I'm also confuse how its got its 50000 mah (50 ah) rating. These will not power a laptop for very long maybe 2 hours at the most and thats for a small netbook. As an example a 4s powerpack using 2 amp 18650 laptop cells would require 100 cells to equal 50 ah (50000mah), it would not fit in your pocket. But these will definitely start your car, as long as it cranks over quickly, that is its primary use. But they advertise it as something much more. When people see 50000 mah, they think they can use it to power large things which it can but only for minutes.
