Just go to Canadian tire and get an 1800 watt eliminator in the amp hour range you want. Don't spend over 200 dollars on what is essentially a marine battery and garbage phase converter. If you need to run a fridge or freezer, get a small generator as those require over 2000 watts starting power for the compressor.

You don't want to buy these for heating or microwaves. Get a camp stove or a Mr Heater Buddy or a kerosene heater for emergencies and use these generators for a TV and lights. If you run a heater or a microwave it will suck all the juice out of it and it will take half a day in pure sunlight to charge it back up!

I am a Ham Radio operator, so I bought the Grecell T300. So 300 watts, so not the biggest, but very portable. Plus the 110 volt plug uses a full sine wave inverter. I've been told this supplies cleaner power. I will have a solar panel for it, before next summer. My only complaint, and I've heard this from others who have bought Grecell's, is no covers for the plugs.

Just completed the break-in period and so far the unit is operating perfectly kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y . I was amazed by just how quiet this little guy is. I kept having to walk down the driveway to the generator to make sure it was still running. In fact, the most annoying noise coming from the set-up is a high-pitched chirping coming from the pressure regulator on the propane line. I suppose it's possible my other propane-powered generator's pressure regulator is making the same noise, but the generator itself is so loud I've never noticed it. Build quality so far is excellent. My only nit is the service panel is a little tricky to remove. I feel like I might break off one of the plastic tabs when bending it back. I probably just need to work out the technique, so will not hold it against Champion.Next week I intend to fully load the unit to charge a large battery pack and will update this review if there's any problem (3000W continuous load vs a rated 3100W capacity while using propane). Absent any trouble there, I'm 100% pleased with this purchase.

1 Pass-through charging is a factor for me, being able to charge by solar whilst using the power station. 2 Also weight. Guys overlook this, saying 18kg is light, where women or older people find this too heavy when having to take it in and out of van/shed. 3 Length of charge cable is usually too short, so requires power supply to be taken outside for long periods, away from appliances and risking theft.

I've never had a portable solar generator as they are called but I've modified an uninterptable power supply from an old home computer with a few cigar lighter receptacles and set it on a deep cycle lead acid battery with a solar charge controller for the same results. Another modified jump starter with a solar charge controller, and 110 inverter has been another emergency back up.

I had watched another reviewer of various these portable generators. On the low end there seems to be numerous ones to choose from. Which means there no over lap in your comparisons, but in the higher end models it seem to become narrower in the selection recommended. The comment on the lithium ion vs the lithium phosphate are as you mentioned the lifecycles. But the other difference is the weight. So he preferred the ion for an emergency grab and go power supply, and the phosphate for emergency home power usage . The only one that’s with phosphate and much fewer choices. Bluetti is know for their phosphate batteries. I liked your explanation in providing information to make a educated choice. He explained the technical aspects and you the practical ones. I now feel I have a better idea which one to purchase. Thanks.

Too much voltage (panels wired in series) can make your charger go bang, too many amps (as long as the wires are thick enough) will go up to the maximum charging power and "waste" the rest. But, of course, you'll also get more amps and thus more charging when it's cloudy...
@DAC_AMD
@DAC_AMD Жыл бұрын
I wonder if the mentioned current (Amp) of the power station has the real output value. Many of the small power stations used for phones doesn't show the real value of the current, but the value related to 3,7V cell. The real value is given by the conversion from 3,7V to 5V, which decreases the current. For example, a 10Ah power station has a real output value of 6-7Ah, depends of the conversion efficiency, which is 75-80%, as I know.

Great review. The EBLsolar portable solar panel looks nice, but wish it was at least IP67 instead of IP65 - not sure if it can take a few rainstorms at a campsite. IP67 or IP68 provides more peace of mind but there are not many solar panel manufacturers that have that portable panel rating across the board. Jackery has 3 panels with IP68 - the 40 watt, 80 watt and 200, but the 100 is only IP65. I'm looking for a 100 that's IP67 or 68, that's from a well known company, but can only find odd named rebranded panels on amazon.. Any recommendations? Thanks!

When I decided to buy one for Festival Camping, I calculated the entire power need I had: phones, i-pad, fans, flashlights, etc. no: TV or a/c or microwave or refrigerator. I found that a 160 would cover my needs. BUT, my house was built to support a modern household in 1953: Refrigerator, TV, swamp-cooler, record player and lights. When I bought it, I upgraded the wiring because the builder could not conceive a computer, home entertainment system, outdoor work shop, heat-pump, etc. So, I chose to upgrade my power bank BEGFORE I needed it and bought the 240 to cover whatever I 'might' need in the future. Maybe a c-pap or a travel-fridge for sensitive meds? After reading the reviews and watching the videos, I chose the Jackery-240 because a) it had high reviews and the bad reviews were from obvious misuse and b) it was pretty. I also found that I could plug my Goal Zero solar panels into the thing and recharge it in a single afternoon while a friend with a 1000 cannot even top his off in a day. So I would add, "Can you recharge your unit in a single day?" Can you recharge your unit in a single day while using it?" Also, Europe is going to USB-C and America is following. Does your unit support a USB-C or will you need an adaptor?

Anything that creates heat is going to use a lot of power so you would need a big generator to give you an idea if your heater uses a 1000 watts a 2000 Watt generator would last 2 hrs . If your generator is charging with a 400 watt panel it would take 5 hrs to charge it back to the full 2000 watts

The first thing to know about thee devices is that they are NOT generators, despite the terminology on some vendors' websites. Generators burn fuel and can be replenished in a minute or two when they run dry; these power stations are just big batteries that have to be recharged when they run down--which takes hours.

@@markb2682 Go buy more. Easy to say but almost impossible in a large scale long power outage. You can't charge these things with grid electricity when the grid was blown away by a hurricane. Expect repairs to take more than a day. Lighting is your biggest worry? How about refrigeration or food? Life or death and you worry about internet connections and recharging cell phones that can't connect to cell towers that no longer exist. Think this stuff out NOW before it is life or death later. The alternator on the vehicle does NOT spin faster or use more gas when charging. Most portable power stations now are NOT lithium-ion, but LiFePO4.

Depends. How many power youre consuming, how many hours. 300 watts you might get 5 hours. Fans use a decent amount of it.

do these have charge controllers built into the charging input? I'm not sure if I need to use an external charge controller with my solar panel.

Yes....ish... They all have some sort of charge controller but you need to verify they have overcharge protection. Some of the smaller or cheaper portable power stations don't have overcharge protection so if you plug in more solar wattage than it is made for you can fry the electronics and it will no longer work.

I've actually bought one for my bicycle caravan. Weight was the biggest factor, eo I went with a lightweight 300w model Whilst it runs out quickly with laptops, it's perfect for any other appliance. It also charges fast enough for me not to care too much luckily
