He’s 87 now and the only thing he’s doing is hurting his liver. (He had a stroke last year so the drinking has amped up more). So it IS possible. It doesn’t make it right and I’m sure it’s rare. But it can happen.

When he gives me back my DL and Car Insurance he told me : "Mr. Xxxx I know you are drunk but you passed the test, so your are free to go". He find me originating in the side of the rod (comeback from Freeport at 3:00 am) and my partner never wakes up in my passenger sit. Funny thing: At soon he aboard me I ask him for directions, to go to Lake Jackson, so in the end when he returns my papers I turn around and say sir ...he turn around too with his revolver in hand ...I say : Sir do you remember at star when I told you that I was lost? So, he gives me directions to go to the Selena town... beautiful night...

They make your bed and clean the room. My Mom crapped all over herself, her bed, the floor and all over the bathroom. I felt so bad for the CNA but she was so kind to my Mom who was horrified at what she had done. She treated my Mom with such dignity. I’ll never forget her kindness.

I used to deliver ALF patient meds to numerous CNAs at many differing facilities on a nightly basis. Sure, they aren't nurses...yet, but they do nursing duties under the supervision or written authorization of a charge nurse. All that said, if this CNA is impaired on her way to work, then she definitely deserves to be fired and not allowed to work with patients again.

Gotta do the standardized test first that includes horizontal gaze nystagmus, walk and turn, one legged stand and modified Romberg (internal clock test). Last, is the preliminary alcohol screening (PAS) which tells them the blood alcohol content. Doing PAS first is like cheating because then you’re biased to place them under arrest based on the number. The machine can be wrong and this is why at least in the state of California, by law you have to submit to a chemical test which can be chosen as a breath or blood test. These tests are more accurate and conducted after the arrest is made. Hope this helps.

I’m an LVN so I’m just a tad bit a job level up from CNA. Regardless of her position, she still has a responsibility to the patients. And a huge part of that responsibility is being sober, clean and alert. In the medical field, that applies to EVERYONE Including the Medical Assistants, Housekeeping, Cafeteria , Doctors, Physician Assistants, Orderlies…. In other words EVERYONE involved in patient care! LVNs are much higher than CNA😂 Give yourself some credit! They start IVs, give meds, change dressings, etc. I just had huge back surgery so I know exactly what position the staff did as I questioned each one and their tags were in plain site as well 😊 I was grateful for every one who cared for me except 2 RNs who would ask redundant questions like you want to lay on your side? As I was laying on my side😅 everytime same dumb questions while I’m moaning to get in bed! LVNs were my hero’s❤

I would like to see her breathalyzer results. It is possible she just went through the stop sign and hit someone. It happens. But if the cop needs to do a million tests to try and get you that could be a sign she’s not intoxicated. It’s pretty much impossible to pass them at it is. But the walk and one leg stand isn’t one you should base it on if someone just smashed into someone. Most tests I have seen.

They use to offer OJT for a CNA years ago in Louisiana They are some hard working individuals and most of them know the patients so much better than the regular nurses do. What did she actually fail on the field sobriety tests that I missed other than a little bit on the visual exams?
