This is such a great video. Rick is the best person I've ever listen to convey a mechanical dialog, and I hope he keeps doing these sort of videos.

Thanks, brother. I’ve got more to come on this one. We cranked it out in only a few weeks and had it in the car in a few days. He even came over and helped me get it stabbed in!

Dang Joe, that is some nice looking pieces you've put together for this build. I was looking forward to see how that deck cleaned up at .003 but you cut to the boring process... are you still keeping some secrets here ? 😊 Great video and keep them coming. Thanks

Curious, why did you chose the 512 shorter rod over the 500 longer rod kit? Should be a cool build regardless. You mentioned solid roller cam, what heads you planning on running? Thanks.
@JustMoparJoe Жыл бұрын
On this kit, the pistons listed as 1.320" compression height, do NOT use oil support rails. The 500 kits do as well. I was also interested in the 4.25” stroke versus the 4.15”, as I only run a 4.10 gear ratio. It’s had mph like a banshee. I used the edelbrock e street heads from the 406 that was on the dyno. I’m now to the point of having to add safety equipment to the car or it won’t be able to tech at some tracks.

Another great vid Joe. Question, Can you get an idea of how straight the main line is by examining the bearings when you disassembled the engine for the first time?
@JustMoparJoe Жыл бұрын
It’s possible, but you’d have to have an absolutely straight crankshaft. But they say crankshafts bend a bit like spring when they’re under heavy load.
@dinadaughtry8993 Жыл бұрын
That's the lightest kit that they make if I am not mistaken, should be one mean mutha when it is done, sure would like to build one for my charger, so I will be paying attention to this build for sure, hope you have good luck with it

Your 512 build is close to my old raised block motor Mine is a 540ci. with a 4.5 inch 440 source stroker assembly. Its being replaced now and I use Victor heads on the old motor. It ran 6.20's in the 1/8th. I get good traction with it so you will get yours sorted out soon is my guess. I run 29/12/15 slicks. I only run N/A but i'm old school. I got the feeling you will like the motor.
@JustMoparJoe Жыл бұрын
Thanks brother. I only have the e street heads, with a best N/A et of 6.40, with my little 750 AED carb. When I switched to the 850 AED Super comp, I haven’t found traction yet! I have some 29x10.5w slicks to try with my 4.10 gears. Previously, I’ve only used the 28x10.5 pro bracket radials
@MikeOCOnnor-jn4ic Жыл бұрын
I run a Dana out back with 4.10 gears myself. I also have two batteries in the trunk. I'm on ladder bars. I'm 110-112 mph at the 1/8. 6.40 is real good with the e street heads.@@JustMoparJoe

The 400 you built for the cuda still runs a stock crank?
@JustMoparJoe Жыл бұрын
Yes sir. The old engine. It was external balanced and still works beautifully. I’m saving it for an actual street car. That’s what it was built for initially. But that stock crank did well at 535 horse and 100 shot of nitrous at George rays. I’m not too worried about it, but I was at spraying 200 on it lol
@mrpurcountry Жыл бұрын
@@JustMoparJoe so the 400 in the video is getting a 440 crank and that's what you're putting in the Cuda next?
